GERMANY: NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED! VAN LIFE is FULL of SURPRISES!

Our vanlife roadtrip in Europe takes our campervan to Germany where we start our tour exploring this big old country and discover an unexpected gem on Germany's Baltic coastline. We mooch about from peaceful rural campsites to glorious free aires (thank you Europe!), enjoying cheap beer, German cakes, ice cream and continental food treats along the way and feeling very lucky to be travelling in our little van in a country we've never explored before.

There are all kinds of pickled herring around the Baltic sea. You should have it with a "schnaps" and a beer. The roll you had in Sassnitz was some kind of pickled herring I guess...

So much space in Germany . Double the size of UK slightly larger population . My partner is German. Spent a lot of time in the south . The Black forest ...summer great there all the out door pools, natural thermes, lakes. Glad you enjoying germany 🇩🇪 ya cuties ❤🎉

Hi Karyn, yes it's absolutely huge here isn't it! Must've been so wonderful to spend time in the south, we are due to head there soon, but there have been terrible floods in the region so we're wondering whether to hold off for a bit or go elsewhere 😬 Decisions decisions! And thank you 😊 ❤

Germany the same, although the alcohol is significantly cheaper! 🍻 The beech forest was a wonder, we'd recommend that to anyone who likes hiking through nature, but you don't have to walk very far to see it either 😁 Thank you and see you next week! 😊

Finally cayching up on last week... Did you say no free Aires? Every German has told us so proudly about their amazing network of free motorhome park ups! Glad you are getting some sun, we know how little your seen in the UK so far this year. Whats your overall opinion on Germany so far, worth a visit? We are thinking about a slight detour into Germany on our way to Turkey end of the year.

Hey Darren 😊 It was mainly in that part near the North Coast we didn't notice many free aires but there is definitely more in other places. I dont think as much as France though, I feel it really depends where you go. But they definitely exist and there are other options too. Plenty of paid ones, some more reasonable than others. Regardless, Germany is 100% worth it - so much to see, so big and vast. We've loved seeing it even if our plans to explore Bavaria feel sketchy at the moment due to the floods lately. I think you'll both love it here and I'm sure you'll still find free aires as you go, we've used plenty on our way around, I just think some areas have them far more than others. So jealous about Turkey, we would love to take our van there! One day maybe. Safe travels ❤

@@comealongdear Back home guys - it was just a short trip, Can highly recommend Spreewald (forest on River Spree) in Brandenburg if you are that way - beautiful and tranquil waterways with punts and canoes only. It seems the floods are quite bad in some parts of Germany🥲...stay safe and carry on enjoying. xx

Gotta be honest I do like Germany. I've been three times in all and do plan on going back for a forth. We went to a place called Dulmen, not far from Munster. Amazing place a friendly people. Surprised you guy's haven't had a Burliner cake. They do vary slightly from region to region, but they are basically the same. Great vid and all the best lads.

Oh lord that's new to us, I wonder if it was both and they were being particularly clever 😁 You've made us realise that we never acknowledged that we didn't walk to the Kongsstuhle itself in the video despite mentioning it! It was just so far up from the end we parked (near Sassnitz) that it would've taken ages to walk there and back (meaning Stephen would've killed me), which shows how big the park was, however we felt really satisfied with the bits we did see, it's all beautiful so that definitely didn't feel essential 😊

Do your phones take e-sim? If so, something like Holafly do an unlimited data Europe e-sim which you can purchase via their app for as many days as you need. Maybe something to consider? Thanks for another great vlog 😊

As sb thinking of getting an RV, how often do you have to empty the septitank and are the enough places where you can do that?

Hello, although our toilet is set up for that, we use a compostable toilet, however for chemical toilets there are usually enough places in Germany to empty we think, although it does vary from area to area. Some free, some paid for. The same as grey waste from your sink, these sites usually have those too. Apps like Park4Night can help you find them. As for how often to empty, I'm not entirely sure but I think maybe twice a week depending on how often it's used 😊

You got scammed boys. Sorry. There is no fee for activation or any fee at all. You only pay for unlimited bundle. Same thing as in the UK. They may ask you for your ID in some parts of Europe.

Well I'm not sure about the rest on that list, but sauerkraut is definitely making a regular appearance as a snack or side dish affair whilst here 😁 Will have to film that to prove it now 😂 You're definitely right and we're trying not to get too bake-happy, but damn it's hard and being here makes you want to try stuff all the time. Weirdly, being abroad makes it feel like indulging or well, doing anything a bit bad, doesn't actually count 🙃 Christ, imagine if serial killers felt like that 😬 Anyway, it'll undoubtedly be over before we know it, although hopefully we won't be ten tonnes worse for it. yeah you probably got scamed dont know about Germany but the rest of Europa 7 days unlimited data is usualy 10 to 12 euros and no activation cost you just put the simcard in your phone and 5 to 10 min later iit is on..

Oh we did wonder, thing is we kept looking online and then were put off by unreliable sources, not sure if the companies were genuine etc etc...so we stuck with old Vodafone.
