Yeah, Germany is in shambles. Its economic downturn has just started. As Yanis has repeatedly put it, Deutschland ist kaputt, it's finished. I live in one of the Top 3 German cities. Where I work used to be a hub of Yuppies. There were fine dining, fashion shops, etc. Yet, around half of them have closed down and most have been struggling. Consumer spending has slowed down significantly. The export is disappointing. This time Germans can't even count on the Chinese market, which also suffers a crunch, to save them. Economic growth is non-existent. The working class has to endure running inflation while wages remain the same if they are lucky enough to keep their jobs that is. Right-winger politics are gaining momentum day by day. In the foreseeable future, CDU/CSU would very likely win the federal election before forming a government with some god-knows which right-wing party. After that, the implementation of austerity will begin in the name of sacred 'Schwarze Null'. And that will bring more suffering and anger to the public which ignites more right-wing movements. Compound all this with the current government's criminal stance towards Israel's genocide in Gaza, West Bank, and Lebanon. I only see the darkness before us...

It lead me to apply for citizenship here and once I have it I will give up my German citizenship because I don't want to be associated with their hateful approach towards human rights. As an expat I must applaud this lady. Sadly, the country is run by the older generation that does not give a toss about human rights - and there are not enough young people in the country that would be carriers of hope for international justice. There is no difference in this regard between the traditional Left or Right. Germany is now in an intellectual death spiral. All main parties are on their way down, there is very little hope. Europe funds currently (through Horizon) tje Israeli industry for the development of autonomous drone swarms. They are currently being used to optimize automated killings in the occupied territories.
