Fun fact: They have found an entire settlement next to this henge. There was a dig this summer and I hope we can see the results soon.

I was digging there in 2019 for fieldwork training and we found a human burial! Can’t wait to see the monograph 😍

I shouldn’t say there is a Wood Henge,( the remains were found and there are concrete posts set in place of each post ) not far from Stone Henge and it is considered contemporary….yes have visited

So many places like this are probably lost for good.

Majority of human history is considered lost. Imagine all the early rituals, religions, and complex ideas that were the precursors for our eventual existence.

hmmm... I thought that Stonehenge was built before the Bell Beaker people arrived in Britain ? so I wouldn't expect the unrelated British Neolithic Farmers and the German Bell Beakers to be both building similar monuments - unless the GBBs inherited it from an earlier culture related to the BNFs or there was a lot of cultural exchange...

My guess is a fight club arena type shit you go and get drunk on holidays and big events even bigger crowds in solstices for example, inner ring is arena, second ring is sober people working their voluntary shift (take turns around the holidays) pushing fighters back in and drunk spectators out of the inner ring, outer ring and even more outside is spectator area. Alcohol is intertwined with out cultures worldwide lmao

Definitely not regular sport and drinking, as this was sacred place but its possible ritual fights, martial arts or games took place there.

A little conspiracy to spice things up. It could maybe have been used for an early form of ball game/ ritualised competitive play, it would certainly explain the alcohol 😂😂

Why are these rituals considered dark? 🤔
@jagosevatarion8822

Maybe because they sacrificed women and children as stated in the video.

Yeah well . . when mainstream religions adopt the same beliefs old pagan . . the rituals become 'light' . . Mars mass for instance coming up . . can get into the tree with star atop & 'red' Santa coming down the chimney/tree & a partridge in a pear tree . . old planetary arrangements & former Suns above . . brushed under the rug of religion
@TheVideoNorm

@@DanDavisHistory I don't know about the international use, but in German archaeology "a woodhenge" is sometimes used to describe these structures, no matter where they are. There are several all over Europe. One in the Netherlands was found relatively recently, closing the gap between the German ones and British ones.
