Bungie Is Making Some INCREDIBLE Changes To Trials/Crucible!

As someone who is awful but still tried I love these changes. Losing every match, only getting 25 xp then getting bagged kept me out of the mode. Now I have a reason/path to grind and hopefully get better.

The problem with trials is that it’s not very friendly to casual or below average players as you usually can’t find people to play with on lfg cuz people don’t want to help out and matchmaking is so random it’s terrible. U will be matched with 2 bots yet the entire enemy team is 3 random people that go flawless weekly with ease. Makes no sense how rigged match making it sometimes

They wanna track when a solo in a match goes AFK or intentionally throws a match, but they can’t catch the guys teleporting across the map or using infinite Heavy ammo… interesting

In all my years I’ve never once played against hackers, plenty of obvious aim botting, I wonder how prevalent it actually is. It is much easier to track a lack of player (AFK) input or throwing a match, than people literally hacking the code. I’m not sure you would even be able to find hackers without people reporting and the manually reviewing their games

I'm happy for the PvE players because the shader and mementos are incredible. We need as many casual PvP and PvE mains into the Trials pool. I can't tell you guys how sweaty it has become for Trials and Comp as a PvP main.

The biggest issue with trials is matching a solo queue player with poor skill players, and then loading that team up against a stacked skilled team and expecting them to succeed. Then doing that seven times straight. Then rewarding the most skilled players with loot that is exponentially better to be used in normal crucible playlists.

Solo players don't match 3 stack teams currently unless there's literally nobody online. Also there's no trials weapons that are exponentially better then weapons you can get from other sources for pvp. That is just coping.

This is just wrong, solos would only face other solos or duos. And trials loot isn't any better than other sources of loot, sure there are some good weapons from it, but there's plenty of good weapons from other sources. Just because someone kills you with a trials weapon in 6s, doesn't mean the weapon is exponentially better than yours, good chance they're just a good player and they'd kill you with anything.

I love how the game is basically in the grave, burying itself, and now they make these changes. This is stuff that should have changed years ago. I'll probably play the game again at some point, but everything they're doing is too little too late. This is also all pointless until they do something about cheaters. actually if you play comp now, it's rlly good. i dropped down from 8300 to 7200 2 weeks ago because of so many cheaters and horrible matchmaking. but last week was amazing. i matched only legit plyrs. lobbies were very balanced and finally got ascendant yesterday.

I know dozens of people in my town who have played destiny 2 they said they tried trials a few times and never went back because it wasn’t a good experience and for the longest time u would get no rewards at all for losing or not going flawless and it’s a waste of time when there is no pay off

I'm an average PvP player with a 1.3kd, and I think it's okay what Bungie is doing with the changes for trials, but I bet that all these self-proclaimed pro players in trials who play with cronus and xim are now crying and claiming that what Bungie is doing is not okay and that it's an L take because Lighthouse access has been made extremely easy, even for people who are extremely bad at PvP.

It would be cool to see Bungie make raids at different difficulty levels with fewer rewards than a regular raid. The win would be getting more people to raid while getting the experience with raid mechanics to try higher difficulties.

Can you elaborate on what a different difficulty level might look like? They have “beginner” and “expert” raids already, Root vs Vow. Mechanics are the theoretical hard part about raids, there’s not really a way to make those easier for new players

​make you take next to no damage, make timers 7x or 8x longer. So instead of having 1 minute to grab a buff you have i minutes. Buff your damaged to the point where if you piss on a boss they die. It is raiding for people with down syndrome. It is crazy how the solution to every thing in life is just make it easier. Wonder why we have so many useless people in thw world this is why. I love this change, this will get me to at least chase some guns occasionally as opposed to never playing at all I really like the “iron banner” mode of trials and could see myself playing a fair amount of that to chase some solid guns It’s not really applicable to me, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a way to increase the number of perks on weapon rolls for higher winstreaks or flawless completions, just because I think the game gets better when there are chances for more perks per column

@stop_this_train8772 the mode they had last week is fun for sure but man a couple of the maps are just too damn small for all the movement titans and warlocks have these days and it being 6v6. I had so many moments of dying on spawn in because there was just nowhere safe to spawn. It's not fun spawning into a insta kill shoulder charge that gives them a lance to freeze the person who spawned next to me. Other maps are perfectly fine. But then I would get that hive dreadnought map and start the round with it being only 4v4 and having to run forever just to find someone to fight. Lol Edit: I only play on console so I don't have to suffer through m&k aiming to make it worse.

My problem is with quitters during Trials. Another issue is that when you use the path of endurance (I don’t remember the actual name of this Trials passage), and you brave the abuse to get the week’s adept weapon, the weapon drops with really crappy roles. Why go thru all that abuse for a lackluster weapon called “adept”.

I’m average in normal crucible and a few times a year I try to get some weapons on the persistence, I struggle SoLo to get my 7 wins and adepts usually takes a full reset or more so I have lots of engrams to use to get weapons. I’m wanting weapons, if adept sure. I feel the lighthouse should be for flawless- ish but if they are gonna lower the requirements then I’ll take it. I’d love to be able to be properly rewarded while trying to improve..maybe the changes address that.

40:56 I've kinda heard the opposite from tons of ppl. Nearly everyone has at least 1 person to play with who's down for Trials, not everyone has 2. ESPECIALLY now that the game is in such a bad state playerbase wise I'd say 75%+ of everyones clan just dipped post Final Shape so unless they can get those players back a ton of ppl are struggling to even find 3 for Trials. A Trials rework isn't gonna get those players back, only huge system changes and a compelling new story saga will. Hopefully Frontiers does this.

This is not trials. It’s not what trials of Osiris is supposed to be. It’s a trial get better or keep losing. Go flawless, get the weapon, get the chest, and get the glow. Catering to low skill players is annoying af. I was low skill I kept trying therefore I got better. Stripping the idea of the OG flawless is BS. May be rewarding for the players who refuse to try but it’s not rewarding for those who’ve been doing this shit from the beginning.

They try to bring more players in. The past few weeks, trials did not have more than 4-5k players and i was playing against the same people very often. I suck at Trials (0.84 kd there) but i manage to (almost) always get a flawless just for the chance to get one of the latest ships. At least these changes will definitely give me one of the ships and bring more players. It's very tiring getting matched against people with 2.5+ kd while me and my teammates are below 1kd but if this brings more players, to have more even matches, i love it. I do get what you mean though. They could have kept the Lighthouse entry to only the flawless.

Currently watching the vid as I write this. I used to play trials but over time it became unfun and I felt the game was not respecting my time at all. It's weird how you have trials AND comp but apoarently both are "competitive". First off as a "comp" game that isn't what D2 is or ever will be. Second, I think it's a good idea to take the direction they're taking to make Trials more rewarding and make it more like IB in how seriously people really take it....pulls more people in. You still have those upper streak packages for the more dedicated crowd but with this system I feel it respects the average players time more. Comp should be the more "serious" mode.

I really feel this is too little too late. I've hated the reward system for Trials since it started and I can't remember one single time I actually enjoyed 3v3 but instead played it only for the rewards you couldn't get anywhere else. This resulted in me despising any type of 3v3 activity and even with those new system being WAY better than the old one, its still 3v3, which I hate. Had this reward system been in place from the start, I might have actually grown to like it, but that boat has sailed on long ago.

With all the data they have on players and stuff, can't they suggest players who have similar playing habits based on play duration, times they are playing, and which section of the game they usually play

Great to see changes coming. But not sure it will actually change anything long term. Sounds like without SBMM the top players will all be playing continuously in the streak pool and average players will get matches against them. So it will still be no fun for the majority and most may struggle to get seven wins even. If that is the case then we are back to here. Players will leave and it will be left with similar issues. Hope it works out.

Maybe i'm just not understanding. But how does Open Skill work in junction with Skill Based in the same pool? IF there is any amount of people with Skill based MM, they will be matched against players of similar skill, these similar skill players could be open skill ...... So unless they are splitting the pools again which would reduce the player bases dramatically, I am not sure how this method works.....

If you're on a flawless card, it's weekly performance based/skill based, but if you have anyone else on your without a flawless card the whole fire team is back into open matchmaking. And I think its only against other flawless cards that the sbmm takes effect, kind of like flawless pool, not sure if you'll be able to reset the card to go back to open matchmaking though, I'm assuming that would work.

Bungie lists off all the issues with trials and then doesn’t address any of the ways to fix the issues. The game mode has need cosmetic items that show you’ve been flawless. Armor ain’t it. We need flawless armor ornaments that can only be earned by going “flawless” not given out like participation trophies. The say they realize this is an issue a yet don’t fix the problem.

That is so sad.. the highest reward in trials is to get to the lighthouse.. and now everybody can do it.. i have all the adept weapons in trials.. but there is no doubt, the end goal every trials event, is to reach the lighthouse. That was the reward.. endless hours of playing and loosing.. and in the end the hard work payed off and lighthouse was reached. Now everybody can play enough hours and go to the lighthouse no matter what.. Sad sad sad solution.

I don’t know how I feel about the flawless mechanic being removed. Of course I want more people to go to the lighthouse and increase the number of players overall in trials; however, the excitement you got from getting that flawless card and earning that loot was an unbeatable experience. This “7 wins does not matter how many losses” concept should have been added as part of the persistence passage in my opinion. Trials needed balancing, not a complete removal of its main function. Doesn’t matter tho because I am not a developer and I’m going to continue playing it anyway😂. I just wish they would’ve kept mercy passages for those of us that wanted to have the old school experience, but with a new loot system. Also, what is happening to the flawless seal? How will that be changing?

Yeah I would prefer the lighthouse to still be a 7 win exclusive and the other loot at a different location like Saint for example, like u said that feeling when you finally make it is something I don't feel much in other places within d2, and I didn't think about the seal, I hope it's not removed cuz I'm not that far off of getting it. Just like unbroken, I was 1 season away from getting it then it got changed...

So when you get the chance to be something else in a game they take it. Personally i like your view 'struggle breeds progress'. It is why i like fromsoft games so much. They make you struggle but give you that feeling of climbing your mountain.

Duos is the best fuck zones! Make changes like getting rid of cheaters, fixing the melee and only 1 grenade per game per person on make melee abilities much less part of every play.. there r 3000 guns lets use em!?

I've gone flawless once in D1 and D2 and I'm contented with that accomplishment however, being unable to farm adept weapon rewards due to the lighthouse requirements really killed Trials for me. I'm just a filthy casual who spends 40 hours working every week so the lighthouse requirement changes would be a nice breath of fresh air that might invite filthy casuals like me to play Trials again.

unless you have a zone that can be watched with a pulse in the back and then someone can hug a wall to cap the point with no line of sight to shoot em then you try challenge the guy you get shot by the dude in the back lol love these changes up until control being still the game mode with how ability's work now and bubble and well nerf rather go back to straight elimination

My take is Trials is the ultimate Pvp game mode. Should only be opened to players that have earned a certain rank in Competitive Game mode first. So when you play solo, you get more competent players as teammates.

I am so sick of these types of decisions from Bungie. They’ve turned into a “Everybody gets a trophy!” company and it’s aggravating. I’m not the best in trials, but I’ve managed to get what weapons I want from playing trials. Just get good people.
