Isn't this channel "the best figure drawing channel" from the whole KZbin?!! I've watched almost every drawing video on youtube, but didn't really get it. Then I read your book and took notes and even did all of the gesture drawings from inside the book myself. And Then I searched the KZbin for the following keywords: "Michael Hampton". Only then did I found this channel! I wonder why it was never suggested by KZbin, bc I knew nothing of it's existence before! Anyways, gesture drawing is crystal clear to me now. It clicked completely when I watched the whole playlist! A great complement to the book! Thank you Mr. Hampton for everything (The book and the videos)!!!! I learned from you, the best!

Yeah his language in the book doesn’t make it very accessible.

I think being able to see him draw in real time while commentating makes a huge difference, but you could say that about anyone's work.

All my life drawing but with 33 I am starting to see how interesting and how deep is figure drawing. I am rediscovering it and it is pretty exciting. I like your book, I will buy it next month I hope. Regards.

hello, I love your book. 😊🧡 I'm studying it for self-study. Can I ask if it's okay if I don't get to follow through the whole steps?-like is it okay if I use lines insted of C curves for my gestures?Also, I'm really confused about the landmarks and landmarks:process but I'm willing to learn. 🧡

Hey Mr. Hampton. love your book and you video. It's super helpful but still a bit difficult. I'm trying to learn your gesture method and i'm struggling. i love how dynamic you poses are and i'm trying to do the same so i don't draw such static character poses but my brain, like, malfunctions. Your drawing for pose three, for example. you draw him at a three quarter angle but the picture is frontal. when i tried to do it, it didn't feel right. Like, i wanted to draw reference number 3 like how it is in the picture but ill admit that that is a bit boring. What should i do?
@LeafyBreezes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, I noticed that you like to change the gesture and pose in slight ways that make more sense to you.. How do you do it? Whenever I reference figures from photos I'm obsessed with trying to get the tilts, angles and proportions to be 1:1 to the point that I feel I'm wasting too much time on each one...
@stevenmichaelhampton3 жыл бұрын
I usually just exaggerate diagonals in all of the tilts and distribution of weight.

hi sir the extra lines are makig me confused. Can I use less lines or is it not good too. Also drawing the legs and arms are confusing too. Can I also represent them as one line?

i feel there could have been alittle more explanation, kinda mumbles a bit with specific words sprinkled in. I'm reading the figure drawing book and still confused.

you waste so much time with the lines going over and over on the same lines...
@stevenmichaelhampton3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure why this matters?
@biggieboijosh14463 жыл бұрын
He actually covers this in the book, repeating lines to give the viewer a quickened visual experience, also the aesthetics look super cool
@daftcruz Жыл бұрын
@@stevenmichaelhampton I find it a bit odd to ask this question since you taught about line economy in your own book. But anyway, I think it does matters because by having fewer lines, it makes both the form (the inner shapes) and the silhouette (the outer shapes) read much more clearly, without messing with each other. This is incredibly useful for begginers, who have a tendency to do a lot of chicken scratching, not knowing how and where the lines should go, resulting in unclear drawing. It's also very useful to add muscles on top of the basic forms, because with fewer lines, you can add the muscles earlier, before cleaning the messier ones. I hope you do understand that this is just my personal opinion though. I may disagree with this statement and some parts of your book. But just like this video, overall I think it's one of the best sources available.

@@daftcruz It's all good. There's no one way to do anything. It might all boil down to one's aesthetic preference
