With your gesture book coming out, do you have any plans to make your Figure Drawing book available in Canada?

44:40 Also just that beauty or even sex sells, people tend to forget that these days. Especially in modern games. Making characters less attractive just for the sake of trying to communicate an agenda was never going to work. It's going against nature of humans. Its just biology

Love it.

That's exactly what I was thinking while watching the video, there should be no reason to apologize for being sexist or if someone is offended, it's just basic biology and it's been proven for years.

Hello Michael, and thanks for all the videos! I have a question for you. Recently I was reading Loomis' book "Drawing the Head and Hands" and I came across a quote Loomis cited. The quote was "Be able to draw the unseen ear". What did he mean by this? Thanks.
@stevenmichaelhampton2 күн бұрын
Not too sure. I'd have to go back and reread it. Interesting quote though

I really love the way explain. Explaining all the components like form, silhouette, shape, gesture coming together is really hard, and you make it look simple. Thank you so much for this class, it opened my mind a lot :D

I’d be more than happy to hear a lesson from you about art history and archetypes, just what you mentioned was so so interesting. If not in plan, could you recommend us some books or resources about it? Many thanks for the lesson

Check this one out. I used a couple books for this lecture but this one was especially significant www.amazon.com/Girl-Magazine-Cover-Stereotypes-American/dp/0807826537/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=3B8176HGATCZ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Z-slOQDJPmy_Oo40cx5xxDhdMxLi-ROR8OJRhfP7h2li4FJ6D93Y6YEsa5-c2ueDdC3_IuYKkHoWNen-d4QxEqfhD3wj7XFr374lsOeIeGFhsmyLPDvySY6oPXEba1HH9qsTGAacQ68z5K7f1wLT0DIZkT-AEGw98t8t0hZTppb2bbzGkal9O4aYW8ZzlOs8q_o4qtRel7tpIgrk3JvCfA.9Bp9T66i6PzL8RfmQ5p8Upe4oeSL2owcvCt3S75SyI4&dib_tag=se&keywords=american+illustration+and+stereotypes&qid=1736384006&sprefix=american+illustration+and+steroetypes%2Caps%2C162&sr=8-1

Just wanted to tell the spine and its breakdown into thoracic and lumber did wonders to my gesture drawing😇😊
@ArtCookei10 күн бұрын
Around 5 minutes he says that in gesture drawing "what matters most is what you want to say with the drawing about the subject and this is just a simple way to play with that" I think this is very important, it's the essence of what gesture drawing is. I just want to add on and say that when you're gesture drawing, it's also a good time to push your "style" because gesture drawing is about putting down what you think is important in a figure. Highly recommend to watch this for gesture drawing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZizkIatrbl4aNksi=OkBuscQmHoZcyCsJ

I like that you admit that even your work isnt perfect, i feel like a lot of art tutorials approach it in a way that makes you feel bad for not being perfect because some of they artists making them make it seem like they are the perfect gold standard, i like that you keep it real that even you have space for improvement, its reassuring and refreshing, will definitely be sticking with you for learning all i can!
