D-pad gaming most likely doesn't need the grip, but joystick gaming, especially dual joystick FPS games, absolutely need this. I played 5 mins of COD mobile on the regular RP5 and my hands were is so much pain, I have never opened that game up again since. 🍻

I can see that, like SNES/NES might be fine for a bit but honestly I think because I've used both PS/XBOX style controllers for over 2 decades (flip I'm old) my hands have conformed to needing some extra grasp on the device. However it's weird, the Gameboy Advance and PS Vita actually don't bother me alone but I do think they too would benefit from some sort of 3D printed grips.

Nah D-Pad gaming needs a grip too.
@tonyrosario1940
@tonyrosario1940 28 күн бұрын
@ i won't argue that much, prob will feel better, just worry that since D-pad is on top, it might make for more thumb stretching, less comfort. For my average size hand, the D-pad gaming on RP5 is just fine. However, my pinkies do slip sometimes, not enough room on the back for all my fingers, comfortably. So the grip would help with that, as long as my D-pad position isn't stretched too much. 🍻

I also Got and Showcased Three Retroid Pocket 5 Cover Grip. The First is Protection Grip is just the Rubber Plastic Cover, then the Two-in-One Screen Cover and Grip, and finally the Grip you have. The Large Grip really Improved the Ergonomic of the Handheld already it does Create Screen Bubbles on the Applied Screen Protector.

Got mine from the same shop and love them! I got the official grips as opposed to the 3D printable file you make yourself, and they came out really smooth. They look a lot better than the ones you're showing off, but I assume that's just because of the material you used. Either way, they're a massive game changer, especially for longer play sessions. The sacrifice of pocketability is well worth it from time to time. P.S. - I use the RP5 as a pocket device with no issue at all. I use a 3D printed face guard so the thumb sticks don't catch on my pocket and it's a very smooth experience.
@DNAMobileGaming
@DNAMobileGaming 28 күн бұрын
The ones you buy from them are Resin printed that's why they're smooth. I showed the resin printed ones in the video, mine are just 3D printed in PETG so there are layer lines for sure.

NGL both the Retroid Pocket 3 and 4 are basically knockoff Nintendo Switch Lites. I absolutely hate the Nintendo Switch it's a descent Gaming Console but it's a horrible Handheld. It infuriates me when Chinese Handheld Producers copy the Nintendo Switch.
@DNAMobileGaming
@DNAMobileGaming 27 күн бұрын
@Pridetoons when I first saw the RP3 my first thought was Switch Lite. When I got it in hand though it was cool at first but way smaller and not ergonomic. I still have my 3 because nobody wanted it, which is one thing to note. The resell value on these devices is terrible because of the specs even the Odin 2 I've watched people take a loss trying to sell them because they didn't like it or whatever.
@Pridetoons

@DNAMobileGaming This is true sadly, only very niche crowds will buy these Handhelds second hand. I'm a Casual Collector, I should know.

@@Pridetoons I've re-homed most of my collection, 9 Anbernic's and 2 Retroids since the start of November, all to different buyers. Niche isn't an issue, but pricing certainly can be. Luckily I haven't incurred much of a loss, but I also did custom setups to each as per buyer request before shipping.

I printed these and it's a huge quality of life feature. I actually love using the sticks now. That said print with tree supports unless you're a masochist...
@DNAMobileGaming
@DNAMobileGaming 25 күн бұрын
Did the organic supports leave any overhang because I'd love to get perfect results. Any time I have ever used organic there's always terrible over hang and layer lines unfortunately. Very cool to hear others enjoy these too, I love them and they definitely make the device 10x better to use.

@@DNAMobileGaming I can only say I used standard supports on my Bambulab printer and the supports were an absolute nightmare to remove. Like... 5hrs with needle nose plyers, an allen wrench, and the wire cutters. I can say its a game changer for the device... but in retrospect I'd have gladly paid to have had those hours back. Honestly if they did a solid version, it'd have made the printing much better, as that was the cause of the nightmare.
@DNAMobileGaming
@DNAMobileGaming 25 күн бұрын
@jrdoughty13 that's crazy because I use just an AnkerM5C 2 hour print time and took me 20 seconds to remove my supports. I even tried the air version of these grips too and took me about a minute to get all the debris.

Only people with fat hands and need to add a grip. Retroid handhelds were designed by people with medium sized to smaller hands in the Asian market.

The OEM grip for the RP4Pro makes it way more comfortable than the RP5 with the OEM grip. They bulge of the controller that sits in your palm is MIA and that makes playing any joystick centric game a pain after about 30 mins. That missing lump is what causes strain, specifically when utilizing the triggers in combination with joystick (which should be swapped with the dpad position). Great little handheld, but i hate the ergonomics of the 5

This is why I printed these grips, I couldn't play it as much as I have without them heck my daughter who is 8 said "this is too small" without the grip. So I agree, at this point I'm done with smaller devices like the RP5 no matter if it has a better chip or not.
