Wish they were out already! I do heavy line work and find myself walkng back to the box to grab stud extractors for exhaust manifold studs. Could use these these as my go to hose clamp pliers since they are so versatile.

I tried using the Knipex cobras on a stuck rusted bolt and it didn’t remove the bolt so I grabbed my cheap pair of vise grips and it removed the bolt very easily I was surprised because I thought these pliers would be able to handle a stuck rusted bolt but apparently not.
@mrgreywater
@mrgreywater 2 жыл бұрын
Be aware that the cobras (similar to most water pump pliers) only really work in one direction. With the teeth in the front, they only grip properly when pushing the back handle (self locking). They slip easily when pulling. Depending on the use-case you need to rotate the pliers or grip the fastener from the opposite site. Maybe that was the problem in your case?

The opening at the tip is a different geometry from Engineers/Vampliers (which didn't even come up with the design, they just bought the patent), plus the offset diamond shape of the jaw opening allows for much better grip. I have a set of Twingrips. As an electrician, I have a dozen cutting tools in my bags, I needed pliers that just gripped, and gripped hard. I find myself grabbing them, and my Knipex needle nose for even tighter spaces, daily.

It seems this company is "explaining" how they want everyone to pronounce their name now, back in 1984 I attended a machine tool show while I was in high school and Knipex had a booth, the rep told the crowd the name was pronounced knee-pex. That's what I've always used and that's what I'm sticking with. ;-)

Nice pliers, but when a company sends you a tool for free your integrity is compromised, when you clearly follow a email bulletin list of complimentary things to highlight, including the 'company history' and fake trojan horse cons like 'you'll mar aluminium' I have to call this a shill review. By all means - Great pliers, but this not the least bit of an honest review.

Gentleman oh, I have a serious problem with anybody doing a product review that cannot pronounce the name of the product correctly if you noticed in the very beginning he pronounced it with the emphasis on the k. That is Akin to somebody calling a knife, a K nife. The name of this product is knipex pronounced nip x.
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 3 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of controversy on how this tool brands name is pronounced. In the end that doesn’t really matter what matters is does it to do the job it says it’s going to do. In this case I think so.

With a capitol “K” it is a proper name and is pronounced k’nip ex. If it if used generically for any push button adjusting pliers, either Irwin, Gedore or whatever rules say the k is silent. So, if you want the real thing, pronounce the K
