Two trailer park girls go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside, Guess who's back, Back again, Ewan's back, Tell a friend, guess who's back,,,,, Watching this just hammered home how much you've been missed, maybe it's the Orkney twang or our casual approach. That looked like a stellar trip out with a good bunch of guys, a fine selection of images and more important great banter by the looks of it. Particularly liked Sanji's small scenes (maybe it's just the 50S thing LOL) Good to see you back bud and looking forward to the next adventure already!

There's a rare beauty in the spirit of these videos you make Ewan. The same spirit exists in your photography. So where does it come from? It comes from within. So others can plagiarize emulate copy whatever they like but they'll never produce the spirit your work has. It lives in rarefied atmosphere and few others can touch it.........David Attenborough maybe.

Ewan, I'm glad your back, good to see you again. I was up in your home town Orkney 2 weeks ago, and funny that when I was at Brough of Birsay, I thought of you and your Mum when I was standing on the coast looking out to sea. That's the first ever time I have been to Orkney considering Ive travelled every nook and craney of Scotland, and I'm a Scotsman but anytime Orkney gets mentioned or visited, you will come into mind, LOL. It was funny, there was me and my friend just arrived off the ferry on Orkney and we stopped at the Chinese to get something to eat, and when we stopped a car pulled up and the guy shouted out his window " Are you Nick" I replied, "How, Who are you" (Me being from the city, you don't know who is after you) Then the guy said, "Are you staying at the hostel tonight" I replied "Yes" thinking how does he know I am Nick and staying at the Hostel, He then said " Its not hard to guess if 2 motorcycles in Orkney have booked in to the Hostel for the night, its probably use" I had to laugh my heed off.

This isn't a complaint about editing, but most of these shots relied for their wow factor on editing. Which I see as part of seeing differently now, because we now know what small visual features can be exploited or manipulated into giving a result that couldn't be acheived by recording on film, due to a myriad of circumstances.

Hey Dakman. I think i get what you are saying, but having shot film years ago and processing and printing by hand - the taking of the shot in C41 was always a small part of the finished part ( about 10%). That said, whether in a darkroom or a lightroom setting, all photographers would post process each image differently, just as we would visualise them in the first place. Todays tech, with the ability to scan negatives, thereby effectively giving a TIFF file, make shooting with film, both cool, but exciting. I have spoken with both Scott and Stephen and we have all agreed that we would all process the images all differently. Sanjis images, however are straight out of camera, with only a curve adjustment. My final image, having Orton effect applied, which iused to apply by 2 exposures (one with SF filter on the enlarger) and love the effect, but dont miss the darkroom itself! Its a cool experiment though, and thanks for your feedback. Kind regards, Ewan

These vlogs however, are story telling about the philosophies of photography, and not just about photographs themselves. there are much better platforms than youtube for that, suck as Flickr et al.
