I only got to play MvC2 on a cabinet once, and that was during a trip to a roller rink, mini-golf, and arcade my fifth or sixth grade class went on. My history teacher was undefeated, using Magneto, Sentinel, and I think Strider. Now Marvel 1, I played that all the time by going to a local diner called Alley-Oop's, now sadly long gone for over ten years now. But they had an MvC cabinet alongside a 4 player X-Men one, too. This game is just few balance patches away from actually being good. The biggest problem with the game was the game's real name was pretty much "Magneto&StormVSSentinel&Doom". The most exciting matches to watch are those where the top tiers are just outright banned because then it actually resembles a fighting game, instead of a game where players float in the air spamming projectiles.
@NeoBoneGirl3 жыл бұрын
If anyone patched MvC2 they’d have their heads cut off by the masses lol. It doesn’t need it cuz people have fun playing the game the way it is, not to mention Doom isn’t *that* popular, MvC3 is where he’s in his realm

@@NeoBoneGirl "When the game has already found its audience." Yeah, its audience of 50 people. Would the changes I mentioned be implemented the game would have new players. Growing up, I always heard of this game but never saw a cabinet at any arcade. Were they super rare?
@normandy25013 жыл бұрын
I only saw one at a lazer tag place I went to in middle school. Having played the ps2 version (brother would use me as a practice dummy) I of course made a b line to it before the lazer tag actually started. I don't know how rare they were when my older brother was in the arcades though. For me finding a ps2 copy was the hard part a certain time after release. I remember somebody stole it from a friends house when we all spent the night. They were arguing over an original Xbox game they were playing and I was by myself on a small TV sat on one of those plastic bins with with the carry holes in it. Somebody looked over at me and said, "I want to play his game. It looks fun." We sat there the rest of the night on that and Budokai 2 or 3 (I can't remember what was current then). Years later I saw a used ps2 copy without the box art around Christmas time. I bought it and another ps2 just to play it because I never deleted my original save with all the characters. That game meant too much for me lol.

It looks like he's just raw tagging which would only give the buff for a singular hit. People never talk about the few unexplained things that are absolutely necessary to know about this game to play it with any proficiency. Worse yet some fools treat this info like you have to discover it for yourself. I dispel some here; there are 6 normal attacks like street fighter but there are only 4 normal attack buttons, when you hit the light attack button twice the second attack is a medium. As long as you go from light attacks to heavy attacks they will combo, so the basic combo is light attack twice and heavy once and you will throw out a light medium and heavy attack in a combo. If you do a super with one character, if you put in the input for the next characters super during the first characters super the second character will come out and do their super then if you input the third characters super during the second characters super the third character will come out and do their super. If you time it right you can get all three charcters out to do at least 90% of their super. Dashing, air dashing, and dash cancelling is how you must move in this game to be competitive. Dashing is pressing the 2 punches together and a direction, air dashing is the same but you jump into the air first, dash cancelling is done by dashing and then hitting diagonal down forwards or backwards and the 2 punches again. Light kick plus start to taunt. If you want to air combo somebody you have to hit them with a launcher (usually down and heavy punch) then tap up immediately after youve launched them, whence your character will follow them up, and then enter a combo string remembering to go from light to heavy and alternate between kicks and punches. A nd that's really the necessities you need to know about.

If they want the game to not die, they really need to put the Ratio Mode in the game as an official mode. We already know from SF3 Online Edition that even a game with massive balance problems will still have the purists fighting real change. And that KILLS the game's longevity.

MvC1 is definitely better in terms of presentation, charm, and personality. I’ve always thought that. That’s one of the few criticisms of MvC2 that I always had: It lost all the charm of the previous VS games. No individual character themes, endings, no stages based on the characters universes, etc. But I always understood that that would be nearly impossible with as many characters as MvC2 had.
