Get into your Mercedes Benz CLK320 Trunk W/O Key or Battery

Thanks....so much. I attached my metal key to a vicegrip, turned it gently counterclock wise, whilst pushing it in. It didn't work at first, then it set off my alarm. After turning the alarm off with my keyfob, I tried it again, then pulled the interior trunk pop and yippey... it opened. I then lubricated it with silicone spray, popped the trunk a few more times to work it in and make sure it was still working. Now I am poring myself a beer.... What a relief..... I had the beer and frozen groceries in the trunk. Thanks.. KZbin and everyone who helped make this happen Deepbreath....... Sculpin Grapefruit IPA now you are mine. Cheers! No drilling for me.

I made spring hinge mount for the license plate that lifts up to avoid having to remove license every time. Works beautifully.

Man it work like a charm I found out that the trunk is part of the hydraulic system so that's why the trunk did not open because I was low on fluid. It's a shame this is what you have to do to just get in the car when the key or remote doesn't work. Now I'm a okay can't even see the hole I made behind the license plate perfect job thank you!

This just happened today to me. Keys were left in the trunk. I had 3 different locksmiths nothing. Had a tech guy to try to open it with the computer nothing. Mine is a convertible so this whole go to the back seats thing it isn't an option for us. I tried everything. I even quoted a laser cut key for my specific year, I almost fainted. I don't care for the many people who say, there's gotta be another way. uhmmm yea it is gonna cost you a whole arm, leg and then some. I tried, I quoted, I like my free option better. I'd be remiss to say that this was BY FAR THE BEST CAR I EVER OWNED despite this trunk issue. I took a trip to Brooklyn NY to visit my daughter Elaan and the trunk was great while there....I got home and had 3 cartons of cigarettes, clothes, everything my now late wife and I bought stuck in that fuckin trunk for a week. I tried EVERY possible fix without spending money to get it open until it hit me to do this...when the license plate is on you can't see a thing and you'll take comfort in knowing u can at least get in your trunk.. it's definitely a design flaw ...No disrespect to Mercedes Benz at all!! In the 8 years I owned this car , I did the brake pads twice and an alternator and a belt tensioner and that's it..for the 3000$ I paid with 112000 miles on it I put another 102000 miles on it and sold it for 1500$ ...German engineering is King and the parts weren't any more than a GM or Mopar ...I highly recommend the CLK 320..Glad it's helped so many

I know theres other ways to get in..at the time i did this there was NOTHING telling me how to get ..taking the seat off didnt work,, a year after this the release in the cab worked and does still work every blue moon which is unacceptable to me. I had important things stuck in there for a week so i had to figure it out...im glad it helped

100% works dont need a hole that big just a flat head screw driver

Glad it helped you out .youre right...had i know the exact spot i surely wouldve made a smaller hole...at the time there was NOTHING telling this fix and it just got too annoying. Cars still going today

This was the only fix i knew of at the time. Btw the plate covers it up completely. If you can get in another way without taking hours to do it...have at it..im still driving this car and it hasnt had 1 thing go wrong other than std stuff..195000 miles and running beautiful

All I can say is this: If you have to damage the car just to open the trunk as the only solution, it is a bad engineering job. Why was this kind of problem not thought of in the planning process? Very bad!

Couldnt agree more, other than this 1 stupid issue the car is the best ive ever owned ..198,000 miles and going strong no issues other than normal shit...brakes and an alternator. Thats it!!!
