That's great. It worked on my 2018 SLC. I had to keep a little pressure on the key towards the unlock rotation while pulling on the door handle gently a few times.

A dead battery rendered the fob and key useless but pumping the handle whilst turning the skeleton key open and close repeatedly worked after 20 seconds. 👍

Wow loved this - worked a treat on my B Class 2010 Mercedes. Battery dead so I simply couldn't turn the metal key the normal way, and was considering getting a pair of pliers to try and apply more leverage. Would probably have snapped the key or wrecked the lock. Luckily this completely unexpected trick solved the problem! Many thanks

I have tried this but didn’t work. Is there a way of going round this when the battery completely died when the car was deadlocked? It looks like the handle is physically detached from the locking mechanism, hence the door is not opening with the key blade...

So great! My key didn’t turn so I pushed the handle inward, then it turned, and It worked. Only problem is I needed something out of the car and was not in a position to recharge the batteries, so I was unable to “Lock” the car after getting in. So you should mention that once it is unlocked with the key, a person will need to charge the car battery in order to “lock” the car again! Still, thanks for the original information!

Awesome. Would that work on an older Mercedes? Specifically on a 1996 CL420 (C140)? I managed to open the trunk and replace the dead battery with a new one. I've also replaced the fob batteries. I can pop opne the drivers side door's lock with the key but the door won't open (won't drop the quarter window and main window slightly like it usually does). Thanks!
