I live in Ohio and have an underground storm shelter. I love it and am so thankful for it. Unfortunately, this past April one went right over us. Trees twisted and down all around us, houses destroyed. Glad you guys got one!

I’m so glad you had the shelter put in because believe it or not, I would always think of y’all when I’d see all of the tornadoes out in your state! I live in Kentucky and I do not have a basement, just a room I hope and pray would get me through a tornado if need be and actually I saw one across the field a few miles from our house about a month and half ago! At least it was during the day! And it didn’t do much damage in our county!

I got my kit last night. I even cleaned my stainless steel with it and then wiped it down with a dry microfiber cloth. My stainless steel looks great today. I’m short and I reached the top of every mirror

We’re putting in a shelter early next spring too. My brother had a tornado split and go around his house from the storm that developed the Moore F5. He said it’s worth the piece of mind as well.

Ashley, I am glad you guys invested in a tornado shelter. I know there were lots of bad storms this spring and summer that were scary. My husband, our little Shorkie dog, and I made a few trips to our basement into a closet. Very unsettling not knowing if the house might collapse around us. You were smart to put your shelter outside. We live in Iowa and parts of the state were hit extra hard this season. Your money spent was worth every cent. We had a full basement in our last home, but when we moved, we moved into a home without one. Thankfully my mom lives two blocks from us. She does have a basement. The house I grew up in had a storm cellar. We sold the house after my dad passed away. I missed us not having one at the house my mom bought. Haven't had one since a d I still miss it

Great cleaning motivation and the storm shelter is a great idea and I hope you never need it but it’s worth every cent to have. we need something like that even here in Kentucky. My house doesn’t even have a center room lol so they give tornado warnings around here. I usually just sit down and watch TV in the living room lol. I do have a closet so if it gets closer, I hear it I can get to the closet pretty quick.

We moved to Dallas 5 years ago. And no t too long after there was a huge tornado that touched down within 2 blocks of my daughter’s house. It is so scary. If we had room I would definitely install one. I hope you never have to use it.

Thanks for sharing your tornado shelter. I live in Michigan and we go to the basement bathroom. I read that I should keep shoes in there as if there is a tornado after you come out there can be debris and you may have gone in barefoot. So we now have an old pair of shoes for each family member stored in the bathroom underneath the sink.

And with this good old Texas heat with another hot day at 109° I bet those blinds in Oklahoma are really paying off and helping with your electric bill as well! The price of the storm shelter is not bad at all. In Texas we all have whole house generators and they are 10,000-20,000. Depending on the size of your house. That’s not bad for a storm shelter, happy you have one!

I love when I get to see little clips of your dogs, they are both adorable. I have2 dogs and have been involved in rescue for many years (I've fostered over 50 dogs) and I find it interesting that your dogs could not be any more different! We often see families have a "type", that may be size, breed, or even coloring but your dogs are polar opposites; can't help but wonder if you chose one and Chase chose the other :) We lost both of "our girls" in the last year, one was a German Shepherd and the other a shepherd mix, we're a bit older now and our "boys" are poodle mixes, I never thought in a million years I'd have poodles but both were fosters that we just couldn't give up. I love my boys but am really a big dog person at heart! I live in the DFW area and although Oklahoma is more prone to tornadoes than we are, I just might have to look into a storm shelter myself!

FYI, I have one and you can register them with the local fire station so that, 'just in case', there is a storm, they can check on you afterward.
