How come the building doesn't have generator? What if there is a hurricane that cuts off electricity, where will these people go?

Wtf? Backup Generators should have energized at least one elevator car and emergency lighting, paths of egress, and emergency exits.

I can't believe I didn't even think about the elderly-I'm a monster. It's ridiculous this has gone on for so long. Almost seems like they're trying to make Chinatown go out of business after COVID as if their goal is ensuring every mom-and-pop shop doesn't exist. The other night, I rolled through King Street and Chinatown, and it felt like a haunted house. The lights were off, and the cops had flares everywhere. It was eerie, like a scene from a horror movie. This is absolutely unacceptable from the city. Something needs to be done because this feels like part of their plan, ensuring every local ends up on the mainland.

There is no conspiracy theory to get people to the mainland or anything like that, that theory doesn't benefit anyone that would plot it. Rather, it's just general incompetence. Hawaii's infrastructure is old and failing, there is also corruption, especially back with Ige, and there's a lack of funding for public schools, lack of diversity in the tourism-based economy, expensive rent and imports, high taxes, limited healthcare options, etc. It's just an accumulation of problems that cause Hawaii to be in the physical and economic state that it is currently experiencing.

Recognizing the issues John mentioned as significant factors, Hawaii's high cost of living, driven by exorbitant housing prices, makes it challenging for residents to afford basic necessities, often forcing them to move to the mainland. The state's educational system struggles with underfunded schools and low teacher retention, leading to poor outcomes and pushing families to seek better opportunities elsewhere. Hawaii's economy relies heavily on tourism, making it vulnerable to economic downturns. The lack of job diversity further exacerbates the problem, leaving many residents without stable employment options. Aging infrastructure and insufficient public services, combined with historical and ongoing government corruption, create an environment where basic needs and effective governance are unmet. All these factors collectively contribute to residents, particularly Native Hawaiians, relocating to the mainland in search of better living conditions and opportunities. These systemic issues create a challenging environment for residents, especially Native Hawaiians. While it might not be a deliberate conspiracy to force people to the mainland, the systemic issues effectively result in that outcome. Addressing these problems requires significant policy changes and investments to make Hawaii a more viable place for its residents to live and thrive.
