A wonderful class in control. Will add this to my repertoire as I like to mix things up. At 81 I’m still swinging the bells, but am not always feeling as strong as I used to. Shouldn’t be as I havent stopped training, perhaps I am not pushing myself enough………
@ramjam-zv7mi
@ramjam-zv7mi 7 ай бұрын
its awesome that you are still swinging at 81 and try to improve yourself! But the body is meant to get weaker as time goes by so i doubt pushing always harder is the solution. Maybe more adapting everyday to what your body allows you to do without hurting yourself, after all at any age thats what we should do!
@juliehock6059
@juliehock6059 7 ай бұрын
@@ramjam-zv7mi Why is the body meant to get weaker? That is necessarily not true. Too many older people sit around and just eat - yes they become weaker. Doesn’t have to be that way. I believe that one must keep moving, lifting and bending, keep the posture in fine form, and not let nature take its’ course. I reckon that people get lazy and dont move enough.
@juliehock6059
@juliehock6059 7 ай бұрын
@@ramjam-zv7mi I disagree with your statement. Who says that it is natural that the body becomes weaker with age, that occurs if one doesn’t exercise properly. That is when Osteoporosis and thinnning bones begin to show their negative effect on the body. I am not competing with younger people, but am definitely an athlete at my age.

Great complex - snatch-squat-strict press with light weights (20 kg) has become a mainstay of my routines and it has been a game changer for my conditioning.

I have issues due to nerve damage affecting my left forearm/hand so can't go heavier than 20kg on that side - so I do doubles and single complexes. My favourite being a variant of Brett's "Iron Cardio". Clean, Press, step back lunge, press at bottom of lunge (keep bell up), stand up, snatch, rerack and squat. Takes about 20 seconds - bell down and go in the half minute for the other side. Repeat for 10-20 minutes. Sneaky "cardio"😊

Bonus point if you can do a hand to hand snatch. Catch the bell in the opposite hand at the top of the snatch for a seamless transmission. Takes some training for sure.

Love these! Your tuition and attention to the details are always greatly appreciated 🙏. On this particular exercise though I’ve switched to using a dumbbell because no matter what I do (and my technique is correct) I just end up with huge bruises on my arm/wrist-seems it’s related to taking anticoagulants which causes me to bruise with the slightest bump of a weight - my knee was almost black blue and deeply bruised when I recently clipped my knee doing a kettlebell swing… …I’ve been doing kettlebells for ten years and still have times where I mess up and get a bruise! Thankfully not too often! Despite ten years I’m still on a life long journey of learning and watching your videos helps address the details to be sure the movement is meticulously correct! You are worth your weight in all the kettlebells!

Mark, quick question about my new Kettle King adjustable bells (which are awesome). Is there any concern about damaging the spindle threads when loading weights? Of course, I'm trying to be reasonably careful, but -- at least for the first few plates -- it is very hard to not have the plates slide over some of the threads. Have you had any issues?
@MarkJYule
@MarkJYule 11 ай бұрын
I have a Wolverson adjustable bell and I was worried about this due to the roughness of the "plates". I took a Dremel to their edges and then put heavy duct tape over them - stopped then rattling too😂
