*@LondonCityWalks* Hello John. Wow ! Great! I really appreciate a video like that. Thank you for preparing this kind of publication for us, now that our King's Guards Horse is closed. ~ Regarding the child that the Guard allegedly "PUSHED" intentionally (at around 16'25") _ (because of the Mother's inattention), I watched and watched several times, lowering the speed to 0.75/0.50min. and it's THE CONTRARY... ~ To avoid shouting at them and possibly harming the child, the King's Guard made the gesture of sending the scabbard of his sword further in front of him... And with this gesture, his arm at elbow level 'touched' the child, who didn't seem to be bothered. who didn't seem to mind. _He didn't push her at all, he was more attentive to the child._ 👧❤ ~ Look from 16:22... exactly from 16:27to16:29 and you'll see it very clearly. I understand that at that point you could see him "pushing". 😊😜👌 I would be very surprised to see a King's Guard deliberately bullying a child. Thanks again for your nice video and have a good week ! ❤🐴

I think as much as we will miss seeing the videos, John will miss going there daily and filming, you can tell he has a passion for the place and horses and dosen’t do this for money but because he actually loves it. I’m sure he will enjoy the rest for a few days but then will get onto looking through unseen footage and posting every now and again, I hope so anyway. Imagine a video landing on Christmas Eve, what a lovely present for those of us who are alone.

Thank you for kicking off your videos from the early days of London City Walks while Horse Guards is shut down for major repairs. John, you asked us if we would like to see earlier, full length videos or shorter videos. I would prefer the full length videos on KZbin. Wishing all who watch London City Walks a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. I live in the USA so I usually watch your first video of the day while eating my breakfast and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. After that, it’s on to attend to house cleaning/upkeep so that I am done with all that before your second video loads up to KZbin. Yes, I am obsessed with the King’s Life Guards but it really is not the crowd of tourists that draw me there daily - it is the magnificent troopers and beautiful horses, their discipline, their intelligence, the traditions and pageantry of protecting the King and Country. I wonder if the Life Guards ever view your videos. If so, I wish all you troopers, officers and support staff a very blessed Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year.🐴

Thanks John. I get the different types of guards mixed up. I know you've explained in detail multiple times, but it just confuses me. Im a US Army wife of 30 years and still get our ranks confused. Yes, I'm blonde. Lol. I dont expect you to give me a whole lesson again. I know there are reds and blues, but do they both wear the red wool cloak? The soldiers yesterday were wearing those beautiful red cloaks, but it was also colder and rainy. I was wondering what they had on underneath the cloaks (reds or blues), sorta like people wondering if a judge wears pants under their robe. Lol Thanks for spending every day with the military and these magnificent horses. Don't forget to get their hoof numbers. 😘 Sending much love and thanks to you, the soldiers, horses and police for your service. 🥰

LifeGuards wear red cloaks with blue trim. Blues and Royals wear dark blue cloaks with red trim. This video is from April this year since HorseGuards is closed atm. You would be right that the last duty was taken by the LifeGuards tho. Duty time at HorseGuard Yard is split between the two halves of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, those halves being the LifeGuards and the Blues and Royals, so you might see one uniform one day and the other the next. As to what's worn under the cloak, the best reply is the same as that which is given to a Scotsman when asked what's worn under the kilt. And that answer is "nothing is worn under the kilt/cloak.... its all in perfect working order" (yes they would need to wear something ofc lol. Those cloaks are wool.... that'd be scary itchy lol. I'd imagine depending on the weather they'd have a t-shirt on.)

@catzkeet4860 thanks catz! I think the lifeguards term was throwing me off. Which ones are they? That wool would be crazy itchy🤭 I wasn't sure if they had their full reds/blues uniforms on under or not. Military always look great in uniform but seems that if it's not BDUs they're just not gonna be comfortable. Poor guys/gals. Cheers & Merry Christmas!🎄🥰⛄️

I am British and a true royalist. You often make reference to the size of these soldiers, but as a father of a profoundly deaf child, should a guard was to knowingly, and purposely make contact with my child, he would ''without doubt'' find himself face down on the cobblestones. I agree the guard should making his presence known, especially when ignorant people knowingly obstruc them, but when it comes down to children and old people' civilised courtesy has got to be the 'order' of the day. Being British' they shouldn't need reminding. Your remarks to the incident were very telling. You obviously don't have children. ...God save the King...
@LondonCityWalks
@LondonCityWalks 5 ай бұрын
As a father, I see and respect that point of view. HOWEVER, were my child to get shouted at or pushed aside by The King's Guard, that would not be due to him/her acting in any disrespectful manner. Rather, it would be due to me not paying attention and supervising my children in a place where close supervision is of paramount importance. Your comment about the cobblestones is insightful: so you would not only strike a serving British solider, but make no distinction between male and female Guards. Now THAT is telling. On the many occasions I have visited Horse Guards with my children over the years, they have never been shouted at nor made physical contact with tbe Guard. You know why: parenting. That's why. 🙏🏻

hey John, just a questionif you know the answer, that is. what is the chain with the reins for?
@LondonCityWalks
@LondonCityWalks 5 ай бұрын
This seems to be the most comprehensive explanation I could find: 'The chain is called the ‘collar-chain’ it actually attaches to the Head Collar which is worn under the headpieces, cheek pieces and bits, it gives the appearance of a noseband making the whole look like a traditional bridle. This enables the head collar to be kept on giving control whilst the rest of the bridgework is removed.'

N.B……Please note before reading that I have used caps for some words ….. only for emphasis purposes and not for malicious purposes so please don’t ban me as I love watching your videos and think that the one with Frank The Soldier was the cutest thing ever 🥰 16:28 I didn’t like that one bit …… the guard should have issued a verbal warning of intent - ‘Make Way’ - first and the parent should have shown more respect by moving the child out of the guards path more quickly thus resulting fault from both parties …… unfortunately I would place 50/50 blame here ….. TECHNICALLY the guard was NOT at fault but I do feel he could have done it in a different way whilst still maintaining correct protocol. Never-the-less the guards and the horses all look magnificent and do a fabulous job as well as put up with so much s@#£ ……. I couldn’t do it - I’d probably knock someone out in the first half hour 😂😂😂

What's with the oh, oh, oh whoha then. Yes, I did see it, and the brat should think herself lucky he did'nt yell at her. She was keeping him from his work, the Guard's are not just there for trouble making tourists entertainment, they are at work and should be given space and respect to get on with their job?

It isn't the guards responsibility to stop have a chat with the teenager, because the child was tall enough to know better. They are lacking common sense, respect, they are no 1 the hell with everyone else.
