I am in America/ Missouri and I don’t understand why they have to shut down the Horse guards, in away I understand because of the crazy world, but know it’s not fair for the horses and the guards. These guards are working along with the horses and people should not Interrupt their jobs. I am embarrassed when I watch some of the Americans that act the way they do so disrespectful!

The tourists need to learn how to watch these events, without moving into horse space, disturbing the guards and police security, chatting and wandering past the bollards! Just like we Brits do when we go and see their guards and military in their countries.

Yes, it's kinda sad to see how many times the horses must nudge people out of their personal spaces, just for them to laugh and pet the horse (who just wants them gone). That is ignorant, disrespectful and rude behavior for adults.
@Bandomeme

I’m afraid tourist Brits abroad can and do behave just as ignorantly, military or no military, as tourists from other countries behave here. Chatting and wandering past the bollards is allowed, except for a short time when they must stand back for the changing of the guards every hour.

What impressed me most about the lieutenant, was the fact that he has horse slobber on his coat and doesn't seem to mind. It indicates that one or more of the horses likes him and he likes them enough to get close enough for them to reach and mouth him. He *could* inspect them from a far enough distance to stay immaculately clean, but he doesn't. Not that I believe for a second that he is responsible for his own cleaning.

WISHING YOU A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY SEASON! This NCO has a distinguish voice of command. Huge respect for him. In the past videos, he’s the one that ordered the Gatesman by the brook for allowing the Palestinian protester inside Horse Guard & the Chitsman for taking off the chain on the archway. He’s furious of the mistakes they made because that reflects on his leadership. Soon, he will be a Commisioned Officer for his dedicated service & excellent leadership & command of the Blues & Royals. Kudos to him! John, is it possible to have a compilation of the UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS & BLOOPERS at Horse Guards of 2023? I am eagerly & anticipating for more videos to come 2024. Its informative & at the same time entertaining. SPLENDID WORK. MORE POWER TO YOU!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love it that you are finding out the Names of the Horses. My step Father served in the then "Blues" and rode as the Sovereigns Escort to the late Queen on her Coronation in 1953 on a Horse named Jorick's during his National Service The Horses are named and sometimes the naming is of multiple times we know that "Jorick's was a 3rd or 4th from the one he rode in 1953 when we visited the Knightsbridge barrack's as children in 1978

"A pinto horse has a coat color that consists of large patches of white and any other color. Pinto coloration is also called paint, part colored,  or in nations that use British English, simply coloured. Pinto horses have been around since shortly after the domestication of the horse." Info copied from Wikipedia. I knew some of this, just wanted to make sure I gave you the right description. Thank you so much for showing these beautiful Guard horses to the world. I'll never be able to visit England. Your videos are humorous and I find them very relaxing and at times moving. All the best from across the pond.

Why do people think it's cute to get nudged by the horse's nose? He's not doing it to show affection. He is pushing them out of his personal space. Rule of thumb: If the horse can touch you, you're too close. If people cannot stay a respectful distance, they'll start painting lines on the ground and making everyone stay behind those lines... (which is a nice idea, now that I think about it. )

Something about a crowd situation does cause a drop in IQ levels. From time to time I had to clear a large facility of students because of a fire alarm.They would immediately stall, daddle and go deaf. Some would even argue about leaving the building. The slow response to orders and instructions comes as no surprise.
@catzkeet4860
@catzkeet4860 5 ай бұрын
Agreed. It's like there's some "critical mass" beyond which the collective IQ drops in step with the numbers present. Its the sheep principle. One sheep alone can be pretty smart.... they actually act more like goats, but get them into a group and all of a sudden the flock mind takes over.... and that's none too bright.

I serve in the Met. For operational aid purposes - Yellow denotes operational commander on the ground. i.e Chief inspector in almost all cases. Red denotes the one below them, usually always an Inspector White is always a Sergeant Plain blue epaulettes (or black if they have the old style) is constable. Then you will also have a "Bronze", "Silver" and "Gold". The "Bronze" will have a "Runner" essentially liaising back and forth with the Bronze (usually in a control room / SOR (Special Operations Room)) and groud rank, taking messages from those on the ground To the bronze or passing messages from Bronze to the ground staff. There's also a "Bronze loggist" who logs and records all decisions and actions taken by the Bronze into a record book - this is usually filed away and kept so that in the event of an incident and public scrutiny later on their actions are documented and their rationale for that action is recorded - it's very difficult to remember why you decided to do something and what you did 6 years later - but when it's recorded and written down it isn't! Often you will hear the words "GT" over their radio used on "aid" or "public order situations" - GT means "General Transmission" and is a person who fulfils the role of transmitting messages, directing officers and liaising with "Serials" (a group of officers usually consisting of 18 officers, 3 sergeants and 1 inspector, also known as a "PSU"). On aid/public order events specific radio channel or set of channels are setup on the day for officers on that "aid" or "public order event" to utilise, receive instructions, the dreaded "re-deployment" which always seems to happen at the end of your shift, or dismissals. The person the officers communicate with who is sat in the control room is "GT", basically just an operator fulfilling the GT role. Often this operator is a PC trained in the "GT" role and sometimes can be a sergeant. Think of "GT" as your normal control room civilian staff in a normal situation not involving public order, the main difference is there is usually several control room staff who you might speak to, and 30 seconds later another person might speak to you since there are several of them, in a public order situation the officer fulfilling the GT role is there by themselves, and it's usually always a warranted officer or rank above that rather than a civilian member of staff.

If I recall correctly, it's to let the horse know that there is going to be a shift of weight to one side when dismounting, as the soldiers armor is quite heavy. If they slap them twice, one is to let them know about the shift of weight, and the other is to give them a 'good boy, job well done'.

@@vgil1278 the nail bombs planted in a veh left on the Mall was set by the IRA. At this time sectarian violence in Ireland was still a thing and this naturally spilt over to London. The bombing was horrific. The type of explosive used was packed with shrapnel, designed to do as much damage as possible. 7 horses and 4 troopers of the Blues and Royals were killed. I remember it happening and the news footage of the scene. Dead horses sprawled across the road, blood everywhere, and the covered mounds of bodies. The army had to go thru and shoot several of the horses who were too injured to survive. It was a horrific sight. There is now a memorial at the site, and patches of the curb stones in that spot that were damaged were left in place. Subtle reminders.

That idiot at the end, now bear in mind i am old and my brain has turned to mush but I am sure he has been on another video doing the same sort of stuff and getting kicked out by the police. If this is so and not mush brain antics can't they trespass him?

Where do these people come from John? 'talk to me nicely ' when l was young we respected anyone in uniform, I was civilian staff at the police training college and later at a city police station, I literary saw the change in respect for our officers, no wonder we are laughed at also l just can't believe all this is taking place on our countries Christmas celebrations ? ...I thought the police couldn't stop and search or has the law changed at last? Beggars belief !

That looks like Q10 at the beginning on the left, was it colic, like I thought that upset him? I would have guessed colic or, if it was summer, a wasp, as I have seen a horse get repeatedly stung and behaving in a similar and totally understandable way (in both cases!). The one you're calling TA is trying to go through everyones pockets lol! He seems to know little girls are likely to have polomints or something! They're Cleveland Bays if I'm not mistaken. The Queen had the biggest Cleveland Bay stud at one point. Beautiful horses.

In US we have people that follow police calls and arrests and accidents with their cameras and we call them stringers. Some sell the footage to the news, or they post on KZbin. So guess you were being a bit of a stringer you caught with the arrest. Thanks for all your effort. These videos are rather addicting to a nosey person like me.

Thought something was going to kick off with that guy at the end that got kicked out. He looked agitated just before he entered, whilst the tourists were chatting. He then grapped an orange bottle of drink (juice?), resting on the entrance gates as he quickly walked in.

Its NOT optics. It is visuals. Optics are the lenses and sensors that collect the light to produce a visual image that you see as the VISUAL IMAGE . Not optics.
@LondonCityWalks
@LondonCityWalks Ай бұрын
It's actually both. Here's a fine explanation: _Optics means "the scientific study of sight" or "the behavior of light," yet it is more commonly used to express the opposite: flagging deception and dishonesty. Optics most often generates victims, not heroes. And that is precisely why we care. Its potential damages impact us personally and professionally. From the moment we wake and start making choices for the day, optics guide every decision. Why? Because whether we want to admit it or not, how others perceive us and our reputation absolutely matters, and this is most true in business._

I seriously do not get what people don't understand about this being not only an active military installation, but an official palace installation as well! I used to wonder why the police were the ones guarding the area & dealing with the public & not the military, well it's because the military can't arrest people & the police can.
