Get Outta my Room

The plaintiff rented a room from the defendant for his daughter. The only way to get to the kitchen was through the plaintiff’s daughter’s room and the defendant was reportedly rude to her. The plaintiff and his daughter are suing for a refund on rent. The defendant says the plaintiff is a bully who threatened him. He’s countersuing for the cost of changing locks and emotional abuse.

Landlords often feel entitled to enter rented rooms whenever they want because it's "their house." They ignore the fact that once they rent out the room, tenants have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Excuse me, but we are landlords and when a tenant pays their rent, the place they pay for is theirs and not our business unless there’s something that needs to be fixed. We Always give our tenants a 24 hour notice before entering their apartment or house.

I rented a room that had this exact set-up. My landlord had two beautiful St. Bernards and he would walk through my room to put the dogs in the backyard instead of walking out the front door and open the gate. I lasted three months.

when people rented rooms 20 years ago and beyond , there was rarely a deposit required and if so it would be like 250 bucks . but in the last 10 years all these damn rooms for rent are requiring 1000 dollar deposits ! the whole point of renting a room used to be that u did not have to pay a deposit or pay a large deposit and u only had to pay the monthly rent for the room .
