I live in Rochester it's awful. 44 homicides by June 1st. It's ghetto asf. The government pays criminals bills so all these criminals get out to the suburbs and rob the areas. We had 2 cops get executed. If you want Black's to commit crimes and be released just come to Rochester. Our mayor cheered on blm while they burned down our city. The black on white violence is insane. Gangs call it poplar bear hunting when they go around beating up old whites Asians and Hispanics. I was on the phone with the Canada Revenue Agency the other day inquiring about taxes should I decide to become a permanent resident elsewhere and I was shocked to be told that the CRA takes 25% from all my retirement income. I asked if I had to fill out a tax return but was told no it is not necessary but optional - in either case the government snags their 25% right off the top. But if they owe you moeny and you don’t file income tax, you will not get your refund - however, the government has no problem with that. What a racket!

I actually thought about moving to West Virginia for one year in order to snag that $12k in cash they'll pay you. It's "free" money, right? Wrong!! I calculated the cost of renting a U-Haul for approximately 1000 miles, plus gas for the U-Haul, plus the estimated income tax I would pay West Virginia for that year I would be living there, would be more than $12k, thus a financial loss for me and a gain for West Virginia. Starting watching your videos because the lure of Panama as a retirement country sounded enticing. What I keep finding put is that many places don't have the mobility options, consistant and stable electric power grid, or in some cases an internet system comparable to the USA. I don't have to have a really warm climate but if it's cold then I like it to be dry so that I can travel or drive places safely. Where I live now, it gets one ice storm after another throughout the winter months. The cold is fine but ice is not something I want to deal with. Taxes, everyone wants to avoid taxes especially on retirement income, but I like my creature comforts plus I have to sell my wife on this move if she allows me to move. Many times Wyoming or northern Nevada sounds better to me than moving over seas. ( no taxes, cold but dry) We are not big city people and enjoy the out doors and gardening too. At home most of our entertainment is the internet so if someplace has bad internet then there is no way we are going to move there.

I think if I move anywhere it will be either the Algarve in Portugal, or Buenos Aires in Argentina. The most likely scenario is Portugal followed by Argentina after obtaining citizenship in Portugal, but I will probably be in Argentina some of the year on a tourist visa, Uruguay also on a tourist visa, probably a residency permit in Paraguay and probably a residency permit in Mexico with a rotation. Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Brazil may end up in the mix some of the time too. Why Portugal first, because if operations are structured correctly, I could probably cut social security taxes in half, despite the higher topline rates in Portugal, and reduce the income tax by as much as 90% or more.

@@chrisd7733 my understanding is that unless you were a native born citizen of one of the Ibero-American countries it does not impact the speed to citizenship in Spain. I don't know that I would pursue Argentine citizenship regardless because if they were to change the laws to take advantage of CRS to implement a citizenship based global tax which some Argentine politicians have discussed, you cannot renounce Argentine citizenship. I think Buenos Aires would be a place that I would want to spend time in with some regularity likely as a tourist, but honestly everything I have seen about the Algarve leads me to believe it is a place I would genuinely want to live and I think I could structure business affairs in a manner that would allow me to keep taxes to a very low amount while obtaining citizenship there and for a few years subsequent with the benefits of the NHR & Simplified Regime. Argentina would be somewhat harder to minimize taxes if one were to be resident there. After obtaining Portuguese citizenship I might want to pursue residency in Uruguay or Paraguay while visiting in Argentina, but it's not a place I would want to reside while maintaining a US passport because there is no totalization agreement and no DTA between the US & Argentina. Yes it takes a little longer to become Portuguese, but of the Tier A passports it's the one that you can get residency with the least money via the D7 and it is the one with the best tax minimisation with the right structuring.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for the information as always. Btw, UAE does have a tax; Value Added Tax (VAT) on a wide range of products and services. it was introduced about 5 years ago, and it isn't as high as the EU or the UK, but it's still a tax. Also, there are more benefits for being a citizen of UAE (and perhaps other Gulf countries) like faster and cheaper Internet and electricity. These are small considerations, but still considerations if you want to move to UAE. I am sure that a person with high wealth and/ore earnings potential wouldn't be too bothered by these small considerations.

Video idea Andrew Open. NYT says people are moving to cdmx from san fran to save money. Blah blah blah. "Say you dont want to give up your us citizenship but want to live cheaper, by living overseas." If you live elsewhere but your legal residence is California, you living expenses are less, but your tax burden is high. Move overseas but first move your legal residency to x, y, z states and you still live and work in cdmx with a US job but your tax burden is reduced. The California total tax burden is x percentage for 6 figure income versus x percentage in Tennessee or whereever. I think this video would go viral and anyone willing to move overseas to work would be inclined to consider your services and save enough money to afford them, and be adventurous enough to start their own business. Mention maybe 🤔 (this is beyond my knowledge) if you initiate your small business in Georgia, Estonia idk that you simplify your life if later you do choose to give up your citizenship.
@micco60202 жыл бұрын
Second video idea. If that one goes viral, because everyone is daydreaming about the news articles about living in cdmx working remotely in the USA. General idea, if you want to start your first small business as an entrepreneur, consider opening it in these countries x, y, z to avoid any problems if it becomes majorly successful and you decide to give up your citizenship to be a nomad. Your business is already established, and the tax strategy and associated issues doesn't have to change. Most new small businesses don't turn a profit at the beginning anyway, so while you are a US citizen you're benefits and liabilities don't matter anyway. I don't know about tax laws personally, but do you have to take income or salaries out of a small business overseas or can you just reinvest all profits and to the business and not have any income from it at all before giving up US citizenship even if it is a six-figure business. Obviously I don't know what works for you on KZbin or the strategies for businesses but this could just be a brainstorm idea for your staff to chew on

The beach towns in the southwest Michigan region are beautiful. I'm a nomad being wooed by some condo owners with a great lakefront property on lake Michigan. The water is crystal clear here and it's really fun in the summer. However, the issue stands on taxes, healthcare, and missing out on international travel. If you're in your 20s or 30s these local discounts may not be as appealing as traveling abroad. These programs will continue springing up because US citizens are quietly leaving and opting for less traditional living.
