Good work guys, well done and keep it up

Even if you're not directly over people in that situation it wouldn't matter. If you have motor loss and it takes an arc right at the crowd. Maybe if you're skilled enough you could kill the motors quick, but can't say there is no risk in that maneuver.

So can I charge a realtor to take aerial shots of a home? Is that legal? If it is, how do you determine how much to charge?
@thebeatsmith65948 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Lee - No it is not legal unless you get an exemption or you already have a pilots license. Assuming you have one these, the price you charge is really up to you but keep in mind it is more that just taking aerial shots. If that's all you or the client wants you can tie a gopro to a balloon on a string. I would say you have to get some training cause you only need one oversight to get put out of business.

You need a 107A certificate. You obtain this with a test you take a an FAA testing center, it's $150. Charge and a very in depth test.

People will always be willing to pay for talent and a product that stands out above the crowd. Sure, anybody can buy a drone and get some video, but they will not likely get the kind of professional product that a real pilot / videographer can produce. If they are not into piloting and keeping the drone up, chances are also good that they will crash it before it's over with. The people who will "do it themselves" are the same people who probably would not be willing to pay a fair price for your product anyway. I made a living photographing weddings for many years. My prices to do this were hundreds of times what it cost for the couple to buy film and get their friend of relative to snap some pictures, but I still never had problems getting business because people knew what they wanted and were willing to pay for it.

Who do you call at the FAA to notify them that I am flying my drone?
@DroneU8 жыл бұрын
Hey William. We'll assume you're flying for recreational purposes since you don't state your purpose. If so, and you're flying within 5 miles of an airport you'll need to contact the Air Traffic Controller.

A commercial drone operator was fined almost $2M since this video was posted.
@Bloodavenger32008 жыл бұрын
+actionjack84 “careless or reckless” operations. - sited from avwebs website. They were flying in a class b flight zone, and wasn't authorized commercial fights. This video specifically said you need to notify the use of air space, height and headwind. Maybe if they did this they would have not had any issues.

when a drone goes down they almost never drop straight down.i believe if you can see people in the camera than your over them.this makes the faa's job very difficult.sooner or later some pilot breaking the rules or even following them may hurt someone seriously.i love this hobby and i am following the rules yet i still have had some close calls casey neistadt breaks all the rules all the time and posts it on youtube .hes teaching others that breaking rules is ok.i dont believe it is and they should stop him and fine him so his next youtube vlog teaches people to follow rules and keep safe or get fined!!!

all it takes is one incident or a complaint and you better bet FAA will nail your butt to the wall.

Can provide an example of when the FAA went after someone for commercial operation?
@khylbert19 жыл бұрын
+Drone U Oct 2015 faa fined Skypan $1.9 million for flying without proper credentials.
@DroneU9 жыл бұрын
+Ken Hylbert ahh good example. But thats not for commercial operations. Its for operations in restricted airspace. Also, Skypan sued the FAA years prior to the FAA suing back. More of a revenge lawsuit.
@khylbert19 жыл бұрын
Also faa vs Raphael Pirker. $10,000 but settled for $1,100. All I am saying is that you are at a major disadvantage legally if you are operating without proper authorization. Doubt you could even get insurance.

Hate to say it but this is all a waste of time. There's no money to be made in drones. The industry is becoming more and more saturated coupled with the cost of drones falling more and more. For ex: DJI just had an Anniversary special today for Phantom 3 Pro $999.00 and Phantom 3 Standard $499. Real Estate agents will end up buying there own if not the agent Broker will. Same for construction which has already happen to me. Only work out there will be soooooo small weddings, car show, etc... with way to many people competing it will be so hard to find the work and when you do you get very little income that the risk/reward wouldn't be worth flying with the amount of liability, insurance and responsibility you will take on to do so.
@DroneU8 жыл бұрын
Yes. People are dropping out like flies but that's why we try and teach people to stand out from the crowd. I do think that the prices dropped because it was their anniversary and because the Phantom 4 may be coming out soon (this is our opinion and isn't based on any fact).
@GDISinc8 жыл бұрын
+Drone U I hear you but its not going be any help. The industry is WAY unbalanced. To many drone manufacturers today, cost is getting WAY to cheap to get your paws on a drone and truth be told the P3 standard camera or even the P2 camera is more then enough to do real estate, construction, weddings, etc... video/photography. The 4K is only good if your going into Film or commercials and the average Joe most likely wont be. To add to it the millions of dollars you have to get in insurance. This is why people are dropping out. Basically this industry is going backwards to the way it was 10 years ago where people only do this as hobby again. But where seeing this trend with everything today. Some techy manufacturer sells high for a little bit then drops it so low that anyone can afford it. Once every tom, dick and harry have one how much can you now really charge to pilot the drone? The pilot/hour price point will drop as well just to compete with people giving services away. The only thing that will separate the men from the boys will be the editing services. If you have very good video/photo editing skills that your work would stand out. Its a shame really because I have been flying since I was 6 years old helis and air planes. I'm now 43 and have seen a lot over the years. It sad ins me because I would have love to make a living doing this full time. But now I feel this industry is a DJ (disc jockey) business. Might have a gig this weekend might not vs doing it full time. Then your toss in our Government who can't even make up there mind on what we can do is actually helping this industry because they are scaring people to fly keeping the saturation down. Once they release the rules and allow everyone to fly legally watch how fast this business crumbles. Again these are my opinions. I know many out there will disagree with me but in time they will come around. This is and will always be just a hobby :/

+Francis G i have to agree with you francis .most real estate guys will just buy thier own drones and with how cheap they are not its easy .definatly no money in it now .
@thebeatsmith65948 жыл бұрын
+Francis G - I am a loan officer and I work a lot realtors who are indeed interested in this platform. But one thing is clear, while most do have the ability to buy a drone and camera platform. Most would rather hire a professional. After all....Their job is to sale or show a house....not fly a UAV. Think of like this....do we really need another reality show.....no we do not.....but they keep putting them in our faces....the good ones last and the bad one good away. Some realtors will buy but most will farm it out.
