I filed last week, but it’s my understanding that the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a nationwide preliminary injunction. Therefore, there is no requirement at this time to file.

I believe you are correct, but if you don't file please keep watch out for it as it apparently isn't over, there is just a hold on it. I personally would file because as so few people talked about it this time around, I'm afraid it would be talked about less if it does happen to pass and I would miss the new deadline.

Thought this was called back? Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild sent out the message that " On Dec 3rd the Texas based federal court issues a sweeping order prohibiting the federal government from enforcing the corporate transparency act (CTA) anywhere in the country. This means that the deadline is no longer in effect and makers do not need to register at this time"

I don't remember getting that from them - you may be right, but I have heard from others it is still in effect - not sure what is going on with it...thanks for your comment!

Not with the Federal Injunction from AL judge. It has been ruled unconstitutional overreach!

I registered my business back in February when I read about it on The Wall Street Journal. I sent an email about it to the president of the Soap Guild and Making Soap Magazine in March and asked why no one was talking about it and got brushed off. NOW they're promoting on Facebook like it's a new thing no one's ever heard about 🙄 and crediting someone else for bringing it up to the them. Figures.

yeah - I was shocked at the conference this year. It was mentioned in a meeting, just one statement in the middle of a long dialog. The girls at my table were all looking at each other in confusion saying "what was that she said?" We finally cornered her after the talk and got a small amount of info on it. It really was disappointing how it was not really addressed.😒

From one Tammy to another…thank you. I have a question. At the conference did they mention how the need to file first came out? You would think we would have been notified from an official office, etc. I not questioning the validity, but did anyone question why we weren’t officially notified? Maybe they want to put us all in prison by not notifying us😂😂😂. I’m so glad YOU are sharing this, but I don’t understand why we wouldn’t get a notice!! Thank you Tammy. I don't honestly know - I didn't realize it had a couple of injunctions - but it is not over, I imagine they will move the deadline if it goes through - just keep watch on it as no one has really talked about it that I found.

It's risky to not file. It's been stopped by the Eastern Texas District Court, BUT the feds will take it to the Supreme Court next year, and the deadline is December of this year. You may run into a situation where the federal government may win the case and the deadline will already be past and you may be on the hook for NOT filing by the deadline. Sure, you can try to risk it, but the SC may rule that District Court has no jurisdiction.
