He is a WEBTOON artist, so he is completely different from Japanese manga artists. The method of income is also different. Japanese manga artists have huge royalties. Why? Comics sell extremely well in Japan. If you do a little research, you can see the income per book. Moreover, the person in the thumbnail is not Oda.

In Japan, Oda's income is said to be 3 billion yen ($25 million) per year. This is calculated based on comic book royalties. This income has been going on for over 20 years per year. This is the same amount of total assets as JK Rowling.

I'm glad that you consistently point out that characters are more important to a story than the plot is. It doesn't matter how good your plot is if all your characters are unrelatable, unlikable, dull, and stagnant. If most of the characters in a story are likeable, I could watch/read a series of them just living a normal life and still be entertained. I wish you the best of success in getting an anime by 30.
