I believe webtoons and manga should be done by the artists own hand traditionally or digitally. A. I. should only be used as a reference or idea in my opinion.

Unfortunately thats not how reality work...alots of company and individual will just make comic with A.I and make huge amount of it. Maybe will replace 99% of comic artist...and we need only 1 artist to make the comic with just a few minutes

By using AI, you are giving up creative control to a machine. Characters will be off model from panel to panel, and you have no control of the camera angles and perspective either. If you want to have the ultimate control over your art, doing it by hand is still best.

Theres new technology that you can control the camera angle and perspective and transfered it to AI Art...I think theres someone make it already I dont remember the manga name but its happen already

Maybe you can use 3D models to control the pose, camera and angles. And you can train your AI only with your art style and do some edits here and there to apply correction in CSP or PS.

You can create consistent characters, pose them and choose the perspective. You really do still have creative freedom, even though I'm not sure if I am totally fine with it lol.

You ain't met controlnet. You can now control all that and once consistency is met you will pose a 3d model and control every aspect. Just faster.

I'm using ai to get me ideas about what I want my characters to look like, and then when I get better at drawing (hopefully) I'll draw those characters and change them up

AI should be an assistant tool for all artists, not a human resource replacement. AI art engineers should work with artists in legal way if they want to make a profit ethically. Artists can provide their art portfolios as the database content while AI engineers process them, and when the AI art is done, the AI engineers can give the result back to the artist to do some polishing to the art.

Agree. I just watched a YT video from 3d artist. The video is about him using AI technology to make things easier. His best quotes (not word per word) is that AI should make things faster and easier, not to replace to artist. I know it's obvious but it's kinda blow my mind.

IMO AI can be used, but should be used only for stuff that is a huge timesink, like e.g. backgrounds. Not to fully draw stuff. The reason why is pretty much technical. On top of AI often drawing eldritch monstrosities instead of characters, and trouble with hands, there's also the case of it not doing a great job at consistently drawing the same character in different poses, unless that character is already famous and therefore in the training data, such as Mario or Pikachu. But for backgrounds, that are often fiddly and time consuming to draw, yeah, AI is something that can be used there.

So if I'm more of a detail guy (studying artists like Shinichi Sakamoto, Kentaro Miura, Akihiko Yoshida etc), it's better to do manga than webtoons? Also I do prefer more desaturated/less vibrant color palettes, which also goes against most colored works?

Well I'm the person that doesn't even support 3d backgrounds in comics (unless you made them yourself, not took premade, same with models for poses) so you can guess what's my opinion on ai, don't wanna see that stuff get near art from miles 🤣 But off the topic, I think that talking about your comics and their stories, would make an interesting video cuz it's honestly cool that you have multiple series.

People should be free to use whatever they want. I on the one hand won't use AI because I think people are interested in MY art, not the AI, which they can use themselves. I also became an artist because I wanted to see MY vision come to life. I have no interest in AI art apart from generating wallpapers for my phone.

I just read an ai manwha, i didn’t realize it was ai at first because it was posted along with other hand drawn manga. I was not read for it. Everything was ai, even the script. The art was eye-catching, but it felt like i was being scammed, it zero effort work by somebody. They literally copied the script of another manwha chapter per chapter.

Manga are practically never completed, many of them are practically only advertisements for the novel. If having AI help means possibly more competition, then so be it. I’m tired of pretty much no unique stories, and the few unique ones practically never getting updates

Tbh i wish i could create Manga with AI, but AI never makes it perfect and doesn’t make the designs consistent, and doesn’t give everything you’re looking for. I dont think ill ever get the Crisp “down to earth” webtoon artstyle

I’m in anti ai groups, and we understand the sentiment. Right now the main issues is that ai was train on copyrighted data, and in shade business practice way. They setup the company as first non profit because non profits have special permissions, but have a separate entity for profit. So it’s data collecting on a shakey legal ground and that it is no way the same scale as human looking up stuff. Plus I’ve seen comments all over like “I want to make X artist specific style” and reaell on a massive scale, devaluing the market. It’s very similar how the copy machine cause the copyright act to be edited to prevent misused of the tech. You are trying to deliberately steal their profit margins by skirting around “ data that is unknown what is fed in it. There are bunch of blind Ai prompters that target artists. There is evidence now in the writer strike, that companies think that the writers are too demanding on paying. Them, even though ceos make millions, and they will resort to ai. If these companies would of talk about this and not skirt around the law, we wouldn’t have this issue. However, for any tech, I do see value in ai. Like it can help for understand style, help writing for those who struggle. It’s a random idea generator, so it can be similar in marks of creativity. For me sometimes, I struggle for hours to even find my mood board and reference, and ai, can cut through that. But always, with any reference, make it a goal, how can I as the artist make it better. That way, in any case scienario, you just like the idea, but not 💯 attached to it. I think for now, until laws settle, anything ai related should be not used/ tred very carefully, and some effort should be put into efforts of supporting the artists who really need it. Ai art is too smooth and has no style. It looks disgusting in other words, theres no way i’d read an ai generated webtoon or manga
