8 Mile is pretty much a "loose" origin story of Eminem, because if you do a side by side comparison with the actual backstory of Eminem you can easily see what's fictional & what's real. Not exactly sure, if Dr. Dre showed up at some point mysteriously like Nick Fury in the MCU.

As ridiculous as this movie made it seem, the whole part where the bad guy was trying to stop Marcus from getting a record deal is close to what happened in real life. That bad guy character was based on the drug lord Supreme from 50 Cent’s neighborhood. At the time he was using Murder Inc as a legit revenue stream, and he and Irv Gotti tried to blackball 50 from the industry. The “Dangerous” rapper is based on Ja Rule. It wasn’t executed well at all in this movie, but it was based on that

Some of this stuff did actually happen. 50 did make a song going into Supreme Mcgriffs business which may be one of the reasons he got shot. And on the villain being in the record business, Supreme did have ties to Ja rule’s record label and 50 did get black listed which was possible motive for the killing of Jam master jay who was working with 50 at the time 🤷🏽‍♂️

You're right about people of color from other parts of the world looking down on black Americans because of things like this movie. I dated a guy years ago whose parents were from Haiti. He told me that when he was a kid, he and his siblings were not allowed to hang out with or have friends that were black. His parents always told them "We didn't move here and go through what we did to make a better life for you just for you to bring yourselves down to that level." Yet his parents didn't really even know any black Americans, only knew other Haitians and white people.

As funny as the movie is, a lot of this is loosely based on true events. When supreme got out of prison he tried to leave the life of drugs and get into the hip hop industry. When 50 made the song ghetto quran, he took shots at supreme and it caused him to have more legal issues, so he put the hit out on 50 which got him shot 9 times. In the movie it seems like Majestic is supposed to either be Supreme, or Supreme’s cousin prince. The movie is just a super cartoonish version of what actually happened. IMO, i think that majestic is supposed to be prince and Levar is supposed to be supreme. Cause in Ghetto Quran he says preme was the business man and prince was the killer. Also, when preme got arrested, prince went to war with the Dominicans over drugs and territory, and during this time Levar is locked up and majestic is causing chaos. Marcus - 50 cent Levar - Supreme or Fat Cat Majestic - Prince (maybe preme if Levar is fat cat) Dangerous - Ja Rule

The local news reported a shooting that happened in the lobby of same theater I saw it and the theater pulled the movie from that theater the next day.
