You know what I find funny. When she was going through it with her husband, Tyler Perry put the husband in an uncomfortable situation to go against 3-4 dudes that looked like they run the streets and called his wife a b***h but when she was jogging with this clown, he was bullying a white civilian dude that lacks aggressiveness

Judith comes across to me as being deeply unhappy with not just her marriage but her life and herself in general. Like, she calls up the man who literally just assaulted her cuz “oh my husband isn’t paying attention to me waaaah” but she seems like the type of person who is so dissatisfied within her own innermost being, that even if her husband was the most passionate, attentive guy in the world, she’d still be complaining, likely along the lines of him not giving her enough space.

Bryce and Judith had no business being together. They been together since they were kids. Neither one of them had any other experiences. All they knew was each other. Your first love isn't always the person who you should be with or meant to end up with. Judith should have got out of that little ass town and went away for college, dated more, and found a better job after she graduated. Bryce was very simple. Judith wanted more excitement in the bedroom and Bryce was just the "dim the lights, put on a slow jam and slow strokes between the sheets" type of man.
@kayc5750

But she was content with her life until she started seeing the new man. She started comparing her husband to the side dude. And even after they divorced she stays in the same town just alone and sick☹️. Dating multiple people doesn’t always mean best.

Then he's a pharmacist. That takes more than college. You have to get a PharmD doctorate degree that takes another 4 years out of college. Plus...pharmacists ain't broke. They make at least $120K in 2013....and he has a struggke pickup...then what happened during 8 years of college? She's a counselor so she at least has a Masters Degree if not a Phd and they're broke???? There's always so many loose ends in a Tyler Perry production.

Tyler Perry’s sensibilities, as a storyteller, seem to be based in the 50’s and 60’s. Everything he has creative control over tends to be moralistically obtuse, if not puritanical. Yet, he was born in 1969. Meaning the culture he grew up with was that of the 70’s. He is one weird dude.

You lose control over everything that way, it is much less fulfilling than having your own business without evil big corporate overlords to serve. This review makes me realise how much pressure there is in the USA to not just support yourself if you can but to prioritise something other than your daily quality of life when choosing how you do it. Becoming a qualified, licensed pharmacist is beyond most people's academic ability, automatically garnering respect from most people, but apparently Americans think it is bad to get your sense of accomplishment from such a thing and to find such vital work for the community fulfilling? That is quite a culture shock, I didn't realise there was such pressure to sell out your fulfilling and relatively stress free occupation, for whatever it is that Korey expected his audience to know what he was thinking of - the money, or some kind of social status that would come with the money, I guess one of those.

With the framing of her telling this story when it was done and they crossfade out the story, somebody in the theater that I saw this in said "that was a long-ass story" and the theater laughed 🤣 🤣. With the bike scene, I remember thinking that that scene was probably supposed to mirror the guys being rude scene. I.E. Harley shows that he's willing to defend Judith where as Brice isn't, but I guess that scene is also supposed to show signs of Harley being crazy 😅 😅. Also, with the plane scene, him having that line "now you can say you resisted" I think is supposed to show that Judith did fight back and didn't immediately give into this affair. However, they probably shouldn't have had her say stop so many times and he keeps going. Maybe they should had him touch her once she says no and then he backs off or something so that the scene can come off less like a rape or not have the implication that she maybe wanted it. Last note, ya'll will probably go over it in part 2 but yeah Brice's character being clueless is one of the biggest flaws, because it feels like it's done to have this easy drama. A similar thing was done in The Family that Preys, where the husband character has to be portrayed as dumb so it can get the drama going 😑.

Oh his character was sooooo dumb in the family that preys. Believe it or not, the play version of this (which came first) that has a Pastor married to a Stripper, a man not attracted to his plus sized wife and has been seeing the stripper on the side, a skinny white girl belting out a soul song, and Roger's weed smoking daddy who ends up with the white girl because she has good credit is WAY MORE GROUNDED THAN THE MOVIE. And in that same play, Roger's idea for a date is taking her to PICK OUT WOOD AT HOME DEPOT. Judith even goes off at him for thinking she likes Red Lobster and berates him for buying her a Subaru
@CLDJ227
@CLDJ227 Жыл бұрын
From what I remember in the play Judith's turn was a lot more quick and she did get HIV. Hince why here Perry tried to show her resist more and she ended up with HIV. I remember giving this film credit for these things that I felt like wasn't done well in the play. Also, with the man not being attractive to his plus size wife I remember thinking how they looked more like mother and son than husband and wife 😂 😂.

Yeah, and for a cautionary movie she was kind of better off in the end. Yes she has hiv, but she’s on the right meds for it, she’s out of a marriage that she shouldn’t have been in the first place and she has the career she wants. It almost makes the affair look like the best thing she could have done for herself.

@Mark Johnson, I actually still like it. It's one of the very few films Tyler Perry made with a woman as the villain. The only other one i can think of is daddy's little girls. Also this is his only film I can think of with nothing but successful black people instead of a hood love story with all broke people. Her husband wasn't rich ,but by no means is he a bum. He just wasn't super rich like the other guy. The plot was wild ,but not anymore crazy than any other drama movie does. Try watching one of those lifetime movies and yeah😌. The point of drama movies is kinda getting a extreme story. Don't get me wrong. This isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it's a cool little chick flick you can watch with your girlfriend and maybe she might think twice about cheating if given the opportunity .😂 I don't have them problems though.💯

@Mark Johnson, I agree ,except I'd switch the criticism around. I think the plot had a lot wrong, but the dialogue had a little wrong. The dialogue was somewhat believable for people in that situation. My biggest problem with the plot is that guy was a famous billionaire and none of the women he slept with told the press that he has AIDS , is a drug addict, and a stalker. I just can't see none of that coming out in real life.

@@kevboogie1 No, what I’m saying is that, while she in her position wants to rise, Bryce has already achieved his dream. This is it for him, and for her that’s bothersome. Maybe lack of ambition wasn’t the right way to put it, but it’s just that Bryce isn’t so much “on the rise” anymore

@John Martin I get that, but does that leave him open for ridicule? It was said several times that she was kind of in the right, but is she really cause you can marry a person with a different ambition that doesn't justify cheating. Everyone has a right to be attracted to what they're attracted to soooooo leave that person and move on, cause she could have easily given him aids at any time if his guitar in front of the dick would have worked they would have smashed And she would have given Him aids all because your man's was cool with a really good job that most people would be lucky to have?
