How to get rid of false virus popup warnings that appear to come from McAfee, Norton or Google.
False virus warnings are called push notifications and will occur if you accidentally give scammers permission to push notifications to your computer. These generally appear in the bottom-right corner of your computer screen.
In all probably you do not really have a virus, instead the scammers are hoping to earn commissions from selling legitimate McAfee or Norton anti virus software.
This video shows how to easily block McAfee and other false virus push notifications.

Thank you. None of the articles I read seemed to have a clue. They all suggested complex procedures or downloading various anti-malware programs. Your video very clearly explained that the problem was some website where I'd mistakenly given permission for notifications. But what complicated things for me is that I routinely have at least two different browsers open at the same time, often three or more. I first searched through settings on my Chrome browser without finding anything that looked like the culprit. But when I checked my Opera browser I spotted the name of the pop-up window and was able to block its notifications (and everything else about it for good measure). Problem instantly solved. This had become a very annoying distraction, and it always seemed like there should be a simple solution, which you provided. Thank you again.

@@daparocksstudio This is not an uncommon experience. I'll run into some problem with our refrigerator or our spa or an appliance, but their user manuals never even mention the issue, much less providing a solution. So I google it, and see lots of other people with the same problem, but the wide variety of suggested solutions either don't work or are too complex to waste my time on to try them. But then I'll find one or more KZbin videos where the person has had exactly the same experience as me, and has discovered the simple and straightforward solution, and provides a video of the step-by-step actions to take to fix it. That makes it so easy. And (as in your case) the comments then are filled with people who went through the identical process and are profusely grateful. So once again, thank you.

@@daparocksstudio I too "blocked everything else about it for good measure". Is there any reason to NOT block everything from this website I want nothing to do with? Is there a way to delete it off my computer entirely? This information solved my problem instantly, thank you!

@@WiggityWagner Hi, I get asked this quite a lot. There is nothing on your computer to remove, you don't have a virus. Instead, you are essentially on somebody's mailing list, and they keep sending you messages. Once you have blocked them, you will get no more messages, but in the background they will no doubt be trying to send you further messages, as it is fully automated and they have no reason to bother removing you from their list. As for whether you should block other things in the notification list, that's your decision. There may be messages that you would like to receive, such as from Facebook or trusted sources that want to message you from time to time. Good luck.

My husband visited NBC News yesterday using chrome, and got bombarded with popups from security companies to buy their product (even though we have some of these already, they are bogus). Doing as you say to do cleared up the problem! You saved us the time and cost of going to a shop to have this fixed.

Brilliant video. You fixed that garbage for me! What a hassle those popups are. They take up half your screen, always stay on top, and without your (settings) advice, pop up every three minutes and you can't X out of them. I also found those two as extensions recently added in my chrome browser and permanently blocked them in settings (three dots up right and scroll to bottom). Corporate viruses like that make your windows unusable.

This was the only tutorial that worked for me. As soon as I didnt allow the push pop-up adds from chrome, all 4 pop-up adds disappeared and didnt come back. Thank you so much!!

I used the same method as you. Thing is, within 20secs of me switching off notifications i had a call on my parents landline. My mum answered and a man with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft asked her if she had switched off notifications on her laptop (it was her laptop i was solving for her). She told him she would get me on the phone but by the time i got there he had hung up. I have had plenty phone scammers call claiming to be from Microsoft but this one appeared to know my mothers laptop was in use and had switched off notifications to their pop up. Very weird.

YESSS this happened to me but instead it was someone saying that i had visited an illegal website and will go to jail... I had clicked allow notifications on a sims 4 mods website 💀

Yes exactly 💯 alert same old stories target from Microsoft account and Microsoft offices were taken those out of country due stolen from Google /Yahoo/AOL Mail and Outlook and window live no longers but won't let us see unfair false info talk about capture under 13 years old I am not on it without timeline non already breech alert mails serious displaying this not processing it failed and not work so far I know one of mine guard from North Carolina already has been delivered to message that one ox accent Indian name was false info from outside of country due not in USA ruined comes from former Samsung Galaxy mobile and Facebook account was scam for ask the different numbers of spies by tricky about winner and get money that's what I did not know that until found out there was a crawling into anyone of who has been accounted for used all of your apps same mine I said can't be there.failure android never show up not work from down load prefer a best Smart watch out of the different thing of platforms problems. The McCaffe popups seriously Piss me off. I will NEVER purchace their products EVER Again because of their rotton popups. Thank you for the video, I will block these settings as you showed. Ideleted the whole MCCaffe folder on my hard drive but every day get the same popup.

No, it's highly unlikely in my opinion. All that happened here was that you gave an external website permission to send you messages - not to load software onto your machine. Now you have removed permission to send you the messages, so the problem should be gone. If you are worried that something may be on your machine, you should run an anti-virus or malware program, some of which are free if you do a search. If you have a PC, you should have that on your PC anyway. Windows Defender is built-in. Good luck.

You saved me brother! I was freaking out! I did allow a website when using a free calculator on the web for maths. Apparently it was that easy to fix! I started changing passwords for Microsoft, thought that hackers will hack into it but i just had to add restrictions in settings. Thanks for the video. The HP phone numbers online are also a scam👎

@@jamescalautti3231 There are no programs on your PC, it's more like an annoying company that keeps sending you emails. They have your details - probably your IP address - and they just keep sending. Given that these people are basically criminals, even if you could reach out to them it's unlikely that they would take the trouble to remove you from their notifications list. They don't care. So, I believe that the best you can do is block them. I could be wrong.

Yes, it comes down to what you know. After I fixed the issue and made the video, I told my youngest son - a gamer - about it, and his attitude was, 'Pop-ups are easy to get rid of, you should have just asked me.' Still, at least we know now, should it ever happen again.

Hi, no it's not on your PC, and never was. It's not malware and it's not a virus. What has happened is that you accidentally gave a website permission to send you messages. And now you have withdrawn permission, so they can never send you these messages again unless you turn the permission back on again.
