Fans of the Sony PlayStation are renowned for their deep and abiding love of the series of consoles. We can't blame them, because we love them and the games you can get on them too. Something which makes it a cut above its rivals is, for us, the PlayStation Store. We've already seen Steam for PC gamers but, when the PlayStation Store was launched in 2006 for the PS3, it became a real game changer for consoles. It’s been updated for all the new systems Sony’s put out, including the PlayStation 4. However, there are some cool extra features Sony doesn't seem to keen on talking about. Luckily for you, we at TheGamer are going to do just that today.
If you love watching box sets, you'll probably have a bit of a dilemma: do you watch them on Netflix or Amazon Prime and run the risk of them being taken off or do you buy the DVD and end up with no space on your shelves? With the PS Store, you can just purchase the programs and keep them on your hard drive. You can also automatically download updates with PS Plus, as well as download games remotely. You can also find hidden extras for games you'd forgotten, change the way your screen looks, show off your trophies, grab a bargain and more.

Actually there is. The box, pamphlets and disc of the game. Many people especially collectors still prefer to own a physical copy of a game than a digital one. Also most games have different preorder deals online compare to physical shops.

you forgot to mention that sony cuts the internet speed to their servers, so the further away from the closest psn server the longer it takes for you to get into the psn store something being stuck in a loading loop. it also affect your ability to see your friends list etc and the only bypass is to delete pretty much almost all of your friends and messages.

back on the ps3 before the ps4 was released you we able to preorder games and if u didn't have any payment info set up when they released u where able to download them and play them (If u did u got charged obviously), this was a bug and it got fixed, I thought u were gonna mention things like that

Here's something Sony don't want to tell you - even during the PS Store sales games are more expensive on the PS Store than pretty much any other shop. You can usually get them for at least 10% cheaper elsewhere, if not more. As an example the Hitman - Game of the Year Edition is currently on sale on the PS Store (UK) for £49.99. I bought this exact title (digital copy) elsewhere not too long ago for £15. All brand new games are sold at RRP - any other store will usually knock 5-10% off. Until the PS Store starts being more competitively priced, I will rarely ever use it - if there's a decent looking game that's only available digitally through the PS Store, I'll give it a miss until the price is reasonable. For me the (in the majority) prices of games are just not worth it any more. At launch there are far too many games which are broken, or expect you to believe that what you're buying is a full game, then make you buy DLC to fool you into thinking you're getting more content, when in fact you're just paying again for what should have been included in the original purchase. I'm not desperate to play any game anymore, just because of shiny graphics. Make something that plays well first, it's a game after all that's it's core concept - to be playable, not to be watchable.
