If you are looking to use the built-in speaker, especially for those who just want 100% Waze, Hansshow has silently changed the circuit board on these units since originally introducing this unit. If you have the new version 1103, the built-in speaker no longer works and you must use the Tesla speakers.

I can confirm this what Hannshow told me and it’s my experience as well and my Waze doesn’t use the internal speaker compared to original versions

After installing anF68 replacing an H6, I had a long dialogue with Hansshow support regarding the product. I discovered that the F68 radar function that activates the front camera blindspot view, only works if you have ultrasonic sensors built in pre tesla vision only cars. This is crazy because if you have sensors in the front bumper, you don’t really need a camera. This innovation was intended to overcome the limitations of tesla vision. I am informed that this will be addressed in a future installable update. I also suspect they will add additional ui’s. The other mad idea is they assume that if you select temperature in Fahrenheit you must live in the USA and use this to select the speed sign style. If you want the EU/UK style you have to select to Centigrade.

Does AppleCar play connect automatically or do you have to do something on your phone or on the F68 screen to activate it?

It always connects automatically after the initial setup.

Question I've got with the screen's Carplay functionality; if I wanted to play music from my iPhone, does it go through the car's audio system or something else. Haven't seen this demo'd. Great video though.

You have a choice in the phone to play the sound through the phone, the screen’s speakers or the car’s speakers.

How easy is it to disconnect your phone from the carplay/android auto? I find some head units are very aggressive about staying connected, to the point you have to completely turn it off. Use case being wanting to switch to bluetooth headset for calls.

Great review! Is access to the center console mandatory? I've seen a lot of installation videos, of similar units, where the only connections are on the passenger side of the car.

Ya I saw those video too before I got this unit and I was hoping the same thing, but unfortunately the wiring harness that Hansshow includes for this unit only goes to the centre console for power. The passenger side connection is only for data apparently. I didn’t want to take the centre console off either but it ended up being fairly easy. The only issue was running that wire under the steering wheel. It wasn’t as easy as the Hansshow video shows. I couldn’t get it tucked under the panel like the video showed so I just left it out exposed. You can’t see it unless you look for it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just installed the F68 in my 21 LR M3 with Intel chip. All connections are made to the computer under the passenger footwell. Not sure if you have the Intel or AMD. AMD requires the power to the center console since you are only using the diagnostic port for data on the side of the passenger footwell.

Hey Dax.. Question about connecting the new screen to the car with Bluetooth..... do you connect to the car or your cell phone then to the car.? or screen to iPhone then car.. I find with my application of an older 9inch screen when i walk away the connection stays active which is annoying when in the house... Im sure i did something wrong so can you assist me . cheers andy

I don’t manually connect anything when I get into the car. The car connects to my iPhone automatically and the screen connect to CarPlay also automatically. But ya I’ve heard of some people’s phones staying connected to the screen when they’re in the house. It’s annoying. The only thing I can think of is make a shortcut in IOS to tell the phone to toggle off CarPlay when you get home. That might work.

When audio is playing can you still change it with steering wheel functions while connect to CarPlay? I guess where I’m coming from do you have to make any changes Bluetooth wise for audio? Do you have to connect iPhone to display then connect display to Bluetooth on vehicle?

You can hear audio from little speaker for say directions but if you have your phone Bluetooth connected to your car then just select your phone in Bluetooth on the main screen. Then everyone you play through carplay on sceen cones through you in car audio.

Realistically how much does it block the air flow now that you’ve had this awhile? I had the larger 9-10” screen and used hansshows air diverter but it still blocked a lot of air.

I found that air diverter useless personally. As for this new unit, it seems like there’s less blockage of the air than the 9” screen. Is it fully unblocked? No. Theres still some blocking but I find the air comes out more lower now. Like I said in the video if you’re tall you can direct the air above the screen and into your face. But for shorter drivers like myself, you can’t do that.

@@DaxM Thank you for the reply. I installed it successfully, but the true test will be in the summer! Airflow does seem to be okay, but I lowered the steering column from my normal position and see if I can get used to driving with it just a tad bit lower to allow more air to pass through.

Hi, thank you for your help you were right it is very easy to install it about the proximity front camera when Tesla vision sees a obstacles, turn us on by self, the front camera, in my car, which is a model y 2023 those turn it on by itself, Is that true that the proximity from the camera works only with the car that they have radar?

I have this screen but did not find how to activate the CarPlay view from the "normal" view with the buttons on the steering wheel, anybody know if it is possible and how to do it, please ? I know that if I long press left or right on the right button this activate the camera but I did not find out for CarPlay

It doesn't get plugged in anywhere. It is just for the manufacturer to update the firmware.

Interestingly you do not show the shortcut button function which along with carplay is one of the mist attractive features. Open the glove box, fold mirrors, switch between chill and standard or sport and even reduce regen braking effect. Six presets that would save £300 if you purchased S3XY kit.

Yes the unit came with the older software and as of filming it didn’t have those features. I’ve since received the update from Hansshow and installed it on the unit. It works great and does save you lots of money compared to the SEXY buttons. Thanks for bringing that up. If your unit doesn’t come with this latest update just contact Hansshow and they’ll quickly send you the update.

Thanks Dax for this review! Now that I have the yoke I was looking and comparing all the options for a dash display. I knew I didn’t want one that went on the dash but on the steering column. It feels more OEM on the column than any other ones on the dash plus less obstruction. I do wish the bezels were thinner but that’s minor. I wanted to know more about blind spot detection. On other displays I see blind spot is available when using turn signals. Does this one provide warning without activating turn signals? TIA

For some reason on Hansshow’s site it shows some sort of red warning when turning (like a blind spot detection) but I couldn’t find a way to enable this in the current software this unit shipped with. I’ll reach out to Hansshow and see if it’s another software version.

I thought it's tied in with when you'd normally see a red flashing car on the main display. This would only be with the turn signal on and a car on your side.

@@DaxM oh ok Great , maybe I will order or too than, if it’s really so easy to install , hard part seems to be the middle console , I saw a video where they didn’t open it, they connected it to the drivers side where the door is for power .. don’t know if that’s an official option aswell , would be great
