My problem is that I'm not feeling comfortable with my right hand (guide hand) while shooting. I'm 16 years old and I'm trying to get into the NBA. I'm very short (5ft 8). So I'm trying to work hard to get better at every other factors like shooting or defending. I also work out, which influence my shot but I am always shooting everyday to prevent a bad shooting form. I am living in Germany and because of the Coronavirus, I couldnt play basketball. I was such an idiot and have still worked out, to prevent being lazy at home. Since the lockdown was over in Munich, I tried to get in to my shot but I couldnt hit anything. Now I'm really pissed on myself of being such a dumb fool. One of the reasons why I'm shooting bad is my guide hand. I dont feel good while shooting the ball and I dont know how to fix it. Another problem is my motion while shooting. I previosly had a one-motion-shot. Right now I'm trying to find my old shot back. If sombody know my problem or the solution of my problems, please help me!!

@@wbarnie9052 U have to practice a lot of form shots. That's what i do to perfect my form. And just to say so u know this is coming from a 14 year old so maybe i am not right. But I saw it and sometimes practice with it. And shooting only form shots with it or closer shots. But again form shots are most important for perfecting form!

I generally didn’t really use my guide hand before. This is because I was not sure what exactly to do with it. That made my flick with my shooting hand inconsistent. I watched this video and tried it out with the flicking forward and I literally started making shots immediately. 10/10 video helped me so much

when he does the floater, it comes off his index, middle, and ring finger. never let it touch your pinky or you will miss.

Great video! I had an issue with my shot. When I shoot, the shot goes sideways and hits the sides of the rim. The reach and the arc is usually good but it just does not hit the center of the rim. occasionally, the shot misses the rim altogether. What could be the potential problem? Is it the release of the one hand or is it some problem with extending the elbow in the wrong way. Thanks.

When I was around 8 I shot with 2 hands and I was pretty accurate. I don't shoot with 2 hands anymore but I don't feel as consistent. When I shoot far shots like from the halfway line I shoot with two hands and still get enough power to occasionally make the shot. In conclusion I don't understand why it is bad to shoot with both hands.

What about if my off hand leaves the ball early? I've never noticed a problem with balance or anything, but in pictures and slow motion videos I can see that my off hand leaves the ball an inch or two above my forehead. I've considering trying to extend my left hand further.

@@christianjohnson7269 I haven’t played competitively in a long time now, but no I never made it a priority to solve this. I believe I would have gotten more benefits from simply getting way more reps in than from trying to fix this, though it’s hard to say that definitively. A big problem of mine was maintaining accuracy when I got my shot off quickly, but reflecting back I mostly practiced spot up shots with no pressure/nothing to rush me. I doubt form was my issue.

When I shot my off hands thumb flicks the ball and I think this causes my shot to be inconsistent even tho I work on my shot a lot and it's been frustrating because my shot isn't great but I think it is because I work on it a lot I want to stop using my off hand to flick the ball but I can't get my hand to comfortably let my hand not flick the ball it's a habit what do I do to work on this I'm 13

Derek William Practise shooting with one hand from around the basket and then start moving back. It will cause u to use your wrist more cause maybe u have that thumb flick cause you need extra power.

I never played like 5v5 basketball, but I play 3v3 street ball all the time and I love basketball... I watched some steve nash and pistol pete drills that really helped a lot on improving my mechanics, the hop, the sway, followthrough, dribbling drills from pistol pete are fucking sick, what he could do back then I bet very few players now are able to do and it's kind of sad etc... anyways, I developed a pretty sweet smooth Manu Ginobili like lefty shot, but the thing that bothered me for a really long time is exactly this off hand interference, to be more accurate, the thumbing thing... and I also used to hold the ball really tight with my off hand while shooting since my hands are not very big... relaxing the off hand immediately made my shot not thumb the ball and its so freaking smooth now im so happy :D tnx for your videos, I watched most of those and all of them are really helpful and easy to implement into your drills, keep up the great work!
