Yep. Rush the pistol when she starts coming around being nice, starts dropping the first items. So when she adopts you as a friend, you can give the pistol. The earlier the better, because she gets better with it and you want her great aim in place when the harder mobs start coming. Kills off the easy ones and stuns the hard ones so you can get in finishing blows...

and i didnt really think of this, so like resources respawn when you save and load that save, or leave the resources alone for a very long time and they respawn.
