What I LOVE about this technique, is that some of the cardstock I use cracks along the fold lines and makes your finished project look shopworn, or old and abused but not in a good way! When you laminate -it solves that problem! Love all aspects of the laminating process! It’s a game changer.

Those are great tips for making double sided lamination Anne! I wish the matte finish pouches were not so expensive here though, I can't justify the money right now. I have had some trouble with lamination wrinkling in the middle. I think the heavy papers I used were too much. I don't think you need the copier paper in the middle if you are laminating full sheets either, just makes it too thick.

I was very fascinated by this but can I ask a couple of questions please? Why did you need the extra pieces of paper in between? When you cut the edges off wouldn't the pieces just separate even if there were just the two main ones? Also, when you want both sides laminated couldn't you just laminate it as normal but cut right to the paper instead of leaving the plastic edge on? Wouldn't that do the same thing to it? And I always thought the lamination was because of it being like a sealed pocket. You know...melting any of the touching plastic around the paper? I didn't know it literally welded itself to the paper too. Does it do that with any paper? Sorry for all the questions but I just like to really understand fully. Thanks ever so much. x

I just ran a napkin through (just got my pouches today), and I tried one with only one-sided lamination and it worked out well. I found that my napkin is brighter on the side that isn't laminated. I'm not sure that what I have is exactly like what you have (I live in the US). IAnyway, I also ran a napkin through the normal way and I cut down all sides and it didn't come apart. It is very sturdy . It got a bit wrinkled for some reason, but it looks pretty good.

@karenperkins67444 жыл бұрын
Jill, the Xyron merely turns things into stickers, a totally different outcome from the laminations. You can get laminators quite cheaply, you really don't need one of these sophisticated, ridiculously expensive ones, mine is a real cheapo, and I have had it for about 5-6 years now, works just like any expensive one.
@jillferry-williams94094 жыл бұрын

Here's some examples: -Hand drawn puzzles & dotted lines of letters on A4, then laminated - so children can practise writing with white board pens, that wipe off - Laminated plain A4 paper, then doodled art on top with white board pens. - Coasters as gifts. - Children drew pictures & their name on A4. Once laminated became their placemat. - Printed out a coloured A4 sheet of labels for pantry items with margins. Cut them out to look like tags & attached with string to jars. -Used pretty pattern paper to laminate a mat for under pet food & water bowls -Printed pics of various family members, laminated them on a sheet, cut around the shapes & made into a mobile. Wrote their names on the back in marker pen & put in children's room. - Made a similar laminated mobile out of cartoon animals. -Laminated children's artwork -Laminated sets of personalised book marks as gifts -Laminated printed out instructions to operate washing machine & oven & kept them handy for visitors - Laminated most often used recipes & attached with binder circle clip. -Laminated 1 layer coloured tissue paper. Used a few to fashion a shade for a small LED lamp. Drew crown shapes, Wonder Woman head bands & unicorn horns on separate A4 sheets. Once laminated & elastic attached - they made half shaped head gear for dress up. -Hand wrote in large letters plant labels. Laminated & cut them out. Tied tight onto sturdy tall stakes in the garden & names didn't wash off in the rain

I love the laminated paper but when I score them for a fold it separates from the paper at the score lines. What can I do about it?
@PositivelyPapercraft4 жыл бұрын
Run it back through the laminator inside two pieces of copier paper

Hi I just started to follow you is there a laminator that you recommend! I’m in the US. Thank you! Good luck with your move!

Yes thank you!😁 but a question: at 06:15 do you need to use the laminator pouch again?
@stripeyjo4 жыл бұрын
No you don't need another pouch. Just send through between 2 pieces of paper and the heat will reseal the original lamination.

So far I haven't needed to laminate a whole page. (Just getting into digital papers...thanks!) I have found a way that works if you don't want to laminate a whole page. It's very easy and a little more work, but this is what works for me. I needed to laminate several smaller pieces of card stock for a project. So I took the laminating pouch and cut it in half along the crease. I ended up with two full size pages of laminating plastic. Then I used my paper trimmer to cut the plastic down to the sizes of the card stock I was covering. Then I used one very small swipe of my dot runner on top of the card stock to make a "sticky point", carefully lined up the laminating plastic with the card stock and applied pressure to the "sticky point" to hold it in place. Then I just fed it through my laminator and TA-DA...done. If you're worried about getting laminating plastic on your machine you could place the card stock/laminating plastic inside a folded piece of parchment and feed it through. This is great for simple shapes, but for something that needs to be fussy cut it would probably be better to laminate a larger piece of card stock that contains the fussy item, laminate it, then fussy cut it out. I don't like fussy cutting, but I'm getting better at it. This method would also work for and item that would be die cut.
