Hi mate, that was such a cool chat with Susanna . She’s got so many different things growing. The colourful caulis looked great and she had some really sturdy sprout plants. I’m definitely going to look out for some BTK for next season as even netting my brassicas I’ve had quite a bit of caterpillar damage. Looking forward to seeing the next part buddy. Take care. Nick

Lol, she has so much more than what you saw in that vid! I'll be trying the BTK for sure next year! We can compare results:))

Lovely to see another great farm. What a wonderful lady.. and it seems that as the plants reach strong growth, the weeds don't hinder things that much. Very interesting information on the bacteria treatment for Cabbage Moth.

I could do these tours everyday Elly! Susanna is fantastic and very kind with her time!! I have a very different context than she does, yet those weeds give me nightmares of last year!!! I shall be trying that spray:))

What a fabulous woman! I love the fact that Susanna grows hundreds of times more produce in one season than most of us, but at the same time, is striving each year to better her knowledge & yields. A massive thank you Ryan, for taking the time to produce this video. And to Susanna too, who is so gracious & willing to share the ups & downs. I learned a lot this evening (I even took notes buddy!). July long eh?... Hmmmm... (I hope it hurts too!)

I'm not going to say it Ryan LOL 🙂 They are some lovely looking caulis- WOW. Bacillus thuringiensis reacts in the gut of Caterpillars so it has to be ingested as Sussana says. You have to buy the correct variety for the pest you are wanting to kill - Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki (BT-K) is the one for brassicas. Great video guys - roll on part 2. Steve
@Mrsnufleupagus5 жыл бұрын
Lol, come on man, you know I love seeing other people's growing!!! I'd be so bad at the allotments over there!! Thanks Steve, that seems to be the variety that is available in the shops here. I had never heard of it, they need better marketing:))
@DigwellGreenfingers5 жыл бұрын
@@Mrsnufleupagus I think what puts some people off using it is the fact that you have to have the critters on the veg first, they then eat it, they then die. So in some respects, the damage is already done. Miss a leaf, miss a plant or even forget to spray - devastation. Having said that I want to try it next year as I'm fed up with lifting meshes all the time 🙂

Very nice and interesting video, Ryan. I could walk in those fields for hours. In my head a cauliflower is white, but after seeing this, I am tempted to try those with color next year. Also interesting to hear about spraying with TB. I got a package in the mail today and I plan to grow brassicas without cover next year. The problem then might be the cabbage fly. Thanks for sharing this, Ryan and I’m looking forward to Part 2. Also thanks to Susanna.

Lol, I did walk those fields for hours!! So much to see and so much information Susanna is willing to share! Please let me know how the spray works fo you. I am for sure trying it next year! Thanks Benni, have a wonderful day:)
@BenniLkitchengarden5 жыл бұрын
I have bought powder to mix with water. It will work on the caterpillars from the butterflies and the cabbage mill, but I have to figure out what to do with the cabbage fly attack. The cabbage fly lays eggs that become larvae that eat up the roots of the plants. TB will not act on the larvae underground. Ask Susanna about that on occasion.

I love these videos you are doing with other growers. Very interesting to hear how they do things. Those brussel sprouts are fabulous! I need to give them a go here. I believe you can purchase BT at Peavey Mart, HD, Lowe’s, etc. I’ve never tried it yet, but I’m sure I’ve seen little bottles (home garden size) there. Anyway, so cool to see how all the market gardeners are open to sharing how they do things with one another.
