Sir, how about platlets in case of patients having giant platlets. The platlet count in smear test is always low due to giant size and during dengue this becomes very less and most doctor don't want to listen and ask patient to admit. Lab don't listen to do manual count.

Actually my brother is suffering from dengue for few days and he is hospitalized for two days and their platelets is just 30,000 due to this virus. And we found no recovery in his reports, his platelets will not increase. We are really worried about his reports.. kindly tell me that how shall we do to recover him or to improve his reports. Sir I’m from NEPAL….before seven months my platelets was 129000. And after seven months as of yesterday report it was 92000…..however Haemoglobin is 16.5……packed cell volume 48.3……and red blood cells count is 5.49. Besides my kidney function test liver function test,thyroid test and lipid profiles test are satisfactory……what should I do more…..your suggestions are anticipated. I have Spleenomegaplia. I have been told that production of PC is normal (As per Boe marrow biopsy) But it is consumed , destroyed by spleen. I am 71 & am perfectly fit 6 to 7 Km morning walk. Playing tennis,& practising YOGA. Is any medication is required to me?

Some labs do test manually also if count is low..Just to reconfirm...

@@logan1846 but hospitals like Max or fortis they will be happy to have counts low and never suggest patient 's attendant that there is a need of manual test ( many of them are not aware if it can be done manually ) secondly if thru machine the counts are low, there will be there chance to earn more doing pletlets transfusion kind of thing.
