The new DeWalt multi tool comes with an screw and washer so you can use the star lock blades. Also with the screw and washer you can attach 2 blades to cut a slot. Thanks buddy.

I know this is about the multitool. But if you want to convert a DeWalt tool to chase, you can get an angle grinder groove conversion fitting which you can use for the dewalt angle grinder. It fits up to 4 blades and is very handy for chasing

Sam, just added this tool to my arsenal. Just a DIY guy, wondering: when I put the blade on, it does not sit absolutely straight with the tool. Slightly to the right or the left. Is that normal? If it is, is there a reason why it does? Some functional reason? Just curious. Wanted to make sure I didn’t have a defective tool. No, not asking about that: I’m asking about the Dewalt.
@ChampionsOfTheTrade5 ай бұрын
Hi Bill. I think it's a DeWalt thing, I've heard of several cases where users have commented about the same thing.. It could also be that, that is simply where the motor stopped. After you have used it, you may find that the blade position will change slightly simply because the motor stopped at 'that' point. Remember that the machine works by moving the blade from side to side at very high speeds. I hope that helps?

love mine.. 2 things a dont like about it though is the noise, its extremely loud on full chat.. and the vibration through the hand is annoying, It really is as if it resonates right around the point of full rpm, if I back of ever so slightly on the trigger it vanishes.. Very difficult to hold it there through...
@ChampionsOfTheTrade9 ай бұрын
There's a lot to be said for a switch and speed control dial. Makita's latest LXT version is much quieter and there is very little vibration. I'd like to compare it to the newer DeWalt multi tool, just need to get my hands on one.

Plunge cutting, minimal clearance trim cutting and several other tasks. A recip saw is more of a demo tool, an oscillating multi tool is more of a final fitment tool
@petrokemikal10 ай бұрын
Recip saw is really for demolition work, far to rough and the blades are too long, the oscillating multitool is for small precise cuts, Its ideal for cutting notches in timber where cables need to be recessed, like stud walls, and of course also ideal for taking complicated shapes out of plasterboard for fitment.. If your handy with one you can also do joinery with it.. Very versatile.. I used it just the other week to trim down a waste pipe that was too long for an elbow connector in a toilet, I ouldnt have been able to access the pipe with a hand saw or recip saw as the pipe was directly beside a wall..

I need to cut out stencils of 1/2in plywood to replace the seats on my kitchen chair, I don’t have a jigsaw, but I do have this Dewalt multi tool. Can it make the rounded cuts through the plywood? Or do I absolutely need the jigsaw?
@ChampionsOfTheTrade9 ай бұрын
The blades on the multi tool are very flexible which can hinder accuracy but if you cut wide and finish the edges with a sander then it could be done. But save yourself the work and effort, buy a jigsaw, they're cheap enough. And will be a lot quicker..

Its the worst multitool on the market. Use the dewalt, then pick up any other brand (m12 fuel is now my go-to). It vibrates worse then your wife's toy. It's actually terrible to use.
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll try and get my hands on a later model and compare them at some point. I've not tried the M12 yet, what is it about it that makes it your go-to?
@evictioncarpentry2628 Жыл бұрын
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade It cuts faster then the Dewalt (I've owned every multiool from the big 3 btw lol) and in comparison, next to zero vibration and it's much quieter overall. I also really hate the trigger. Youd think it would be good until you need to hold it in awkward positions. I find the M12 Fuel is the perfect balance of size and speed. The non-fuel M12 is better for really fine cutting (good for cabinets or melamine type material) because it has a smaller stroke on the blade but it's also half the cutting speed because of that. The makitas are nice to use vibration wise but they're too bulky. Same with the M18 models. Too big especially with a 5AH battery.
