Pumla you rock. My sister from another mother. Yes l wanted children. l have 2 like Manuella but there is nothing in this world that can take me back to the labour ward. You talked about financially, mentally and emotionally. being okay with it. Oh my my many people say mbu omwana akula. Says who? If you are a hands on mum like me and Pumla, you are constantly planning. Truth be told raising children takes aloooooooooooooooooot. So when people ask me some questions l tell them l want to give my children a chance to have a better life than l did, That costs money and time to mold this individual especially in their dependency years. That's alot of work. Meanwhile as an individual you want to succeed at other things too. This is hard with many children and marriage. No one has that mental space unless you just want to be mediocre. In Africa we also have to think about looking after our old parents. I love my body too. I cant imagine having to go back in shape multiple times. More so l don't want to blame my children for my bad body shape. They also ask me what l would say if hubby wanted more children. My answer always is that's so selfish. Even if you have 10 and he is the type who sleeps around trust me he will have more children. So l am not going through body toture again. Nope,. i could type an essay about this subject. i love you girls. One day we should do a bump love get together😀

Now for the villagers, we were not aware of poverty. We were all at the same level. Truth be told I realised that we were poor after visiting Kampala. OMG village life is better than town life. Hello from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA! I've been a fan for about 2 years. Pumla's perspective on becoming a mother and parenting resonates with me so much! I agree that motherhood is so romanticized. I'm a mother to a two year old girl and she so awesome but the thought to have another one is way too risky for me mentally, physically, and emotionally. Even if the 2nd child is great the exhaustion is so unappealing to me.

Ladies, I appreciate you all for being vulnerable and sharing your lives with us. There's so much wisdom and encouragement I've drawn for Bump love. Pumla, thank you for being the voice for women who "do not conform to the norm". I am one of those women who are not good with kids. I have never had children and do not mind not having any but every time I share my thoughts I am judged. It's so good to find people with similar minds. It makes me feel more comfortable in how I feel towards child bearing.
@pumlanabachwa86682 жыл бұрын
Hey Tiny. I'm glad that this platform allows us to speak openly. Hopefully this can allow more women to share and not care about judgement. We're not good with kids and it's okay. Let those who are - have them. As long as we arent hurting anyone, we should all just be able to do what makes us happy. Let society go hang 😎. P

Thank u Pumla for eloquently voicing the phenomenon that is motherhood. All of us are not all cut out for it...some 1 is enough, some it's 4, others it's a dozen and some none at all. Now,because human beings(women) are not a monolith, a word esp to judgemental society,women who don't have/don't want kids aren't aliens,they just exercised their right & power to choose their own destiny(my uterus my choice)... so just live & let live! Pumla talked abt how beautifully & generously different Rosette is from some other pple who might share the same story of a history of poverty, I think what makes Rosette who she is,is that she was not born in abject poverty, her family fell on hard times somewhere along the way but that didn't harden her heart. Whereas a person who is born in abject poverty & that's all they've known since birth...that person will not be very open to giving/helping...it's all abt them & their survival.
