Unfortunately I'm too lazy or busy to fully take apart my quads very often.. But good vid 👌😂

Yeah, I vote lazy. LOL My daughter (15) just ripped hers completely apart - plate fully off the boot and all - to check on the boot/sole (hers is cemented, I prefer stitched) and to clean between the plate and sole, as well as everything else; wheels, stops, stop housing, bearings, cushions and retainers, checked, cleaned and changed her pivot cups, wiped down the axles, and kingpins...plus changed her laces while she was at. Took her all of about 45 minutes and she'd never done it before. I helped guide her, but made her do all the work herself. (If she continues to skate, I'm not always going to be around for her.) 18 year old just did it for her 3rd time - took her about 25 minutes. I can do it in around 15, but I've done it too many times to count. Fully cleaning your bearings (not just wiping them down), including re-oiling, really takes more time than ripping the whole thing apart to clean everything else. The more you do it, the more you get familiar with your skates, and the more familiar you are with your skates, the quicker it goes. For the three of us, our current favorite skates are all vinyl at the moment, so we didn't need to do any work on those other than go over them with a (slightly) damp cloth to get some of the dust and loose grime off of them. Pick your favorite (hour-long) show or (better yet) movie, gather your tools, any necessary cleaners, and some cloths and paper towels and have it while you watch. Fully dismantling them should be done every 2 years, specifically to clean between plate and boot, but some basics should be done EVERY time *before* you skate (checking to be sure your toe stops are secure, the plate it secure on the boot, laces aren't frayed, etc.)...most other things should be done every 2-6 months (cleaning the rest of the parts) depending on where and how often you skate. Outdoor only skating can be harsh on your favorite pair, indoor only skating not so much.
