I can hear my grandma shouting from the door "What are you doing taking all that off on the porch?? Get in here - it's not like we don't have anything for mopping up water!" 😂 This same grandma actually grew up without heating (or indoor plumbing!) because lived in rural area and wasn't available until she was in highschool in the 60s

This is when you roll everything up with the wet side inside and you hang in the bathroom to dry.

This reminds me of when I used to live in Minnesota. I had a job that had me outside for a lot of the day, even in winter. I'd wear a normal pair of boot socks, then take activated hand warmers and use masking tape to keep them under the arches of my feet. I'd put wool socks over that and then my -40 rated boots. I'd wear a full set of thermals, fleece-lined leggings, pants, a short-sleeve shirt, a sweater, a giant down coat, a hat, a scarf, a pair of gloves, and a pair of thick mittens over the gloves with more hand warmers between the layers. And I would still get cold sometimes 😬

Wool is fantastic when it comes to keeping you warm! I have woolen long johns/tights/thermals and they are a godsend when it's wet and cold out, I stay warmer and don't feel quite as wet (although they have a tendency to be itchy when they are drying). Have also used my woolen cloak while it was wet, and kept me warm even though it was So Heavy from all the water it had absorbed.

Is that ribbon stiff cotton velvet? Try backing it with a satin or silk to make it easier to tie and untie.

Richtig, ich empfehle Satin oder Taft, um binden und leicht erleichtern.

Does the snow damage the wool? Or does it hold up well? Does the dress need special care once back inside?
@katiehettinger7857 Жыл бұрын
No, wool repells snow as long the temperature in low enough. Unfortunately when you bring it inside and the snow melts you smell like a wet dog.

As long as the wool has lanolin in it it will repel water and snow to a degree. Plus if it absorbs the water, wool is a unique fabric in that you still stay fairly warm even when it’s wet. If the wool fabric has lost its water resistance you can give it a bath in a lanolin shampoo to restore it (also useful for UGG boots and sheepskin rugs)

I think doing that outside, kinda defeats the purpose of having a lot of layers on to begin with
@shannonrickard8605 Жыл бұрын
Not really. Being outside for hours doing things with no clothes on is a lot different than being outside long enough to get undressed and then go inside. I do this when i come in from doing barn chores

Your channel/work came to my attention because of two Mourning Jewelry Pc's. you featured the Ring & Brooch. But, I frankly couldn't bear the music 🎶. With all due respect, I found it truly distracting and overpowering. As a result, after watching, the "second- short" with the same obnoxious tune. I was in the process of deleting the two shorts I had originally saved! But, then I hesitated...? Only then did I discover that you are truly lovely, with a beautiful and incredible site. With a wonderful sense of humor with gorgeous clothing and locations, my dear❣️ I'm so grateful, as it seems to have been, just those few shorts. As an antique shop owner, by trade. Occasionally, I search and locate some of these beautiful jewelry creations. But, that said, even in my shop, music🎶 can make or break, whether someone spends more or less time, to either peruse or buy in that location 😉. It doesn't need to be old fuddy duddy tunes, I use a mix, off Pandora, but I wanted to let you know, for what it's worth... I'll keep an eye on your site & work in the future, as your style is amazing! We so need the generations to appreciate the beauty and value of the By Gone Era's and what they can still offer us today. God bless you on your unique journey, my dear. I'll be sure to pass on your channel to my friends and customers as well💞. Sincerely, & from So. CA.

She doesn’t want to mop up the snow once it turns into water. If she takes it off outside and shakes it out, then the snow stays outside.
