@@orianna1220 Amazon and Google have competitive selling fees though. Ok so there is NO WAY this suit is being called by actual consumers. I can say that with almost absolute certainty. Unless everyone is an idiot, which I honestly wouldn't put past people these days. No consumer in their right mind is not happy with steam's monopoly. Having all our games in one spot is awesome... being able to find 99% of the available games out there on a single platform... thats extremely convenient for the consumer. Having massive sales because the company can afford to do so is GREAT for consumers. This is really sad that some big firm saw this payday, and people will probably actually jump on board with this for a quick buck, completely ignoring that this monopoly actually benefits the consumers. . For comparison, does anyone remember when netflix had almost everything? And now fast forward to the "non-monopoly version" we have currently that actually costs more per month than it did previously when it had everything, and to watch maybe 60-70% of available modern shows you would need to be subscribed monthly to 5 or 6 different streaming services... That is NOT at all good for the consumer. No one wants 17 different launchers to sift through to find specific game titles and download files. . In a lot of cases, monopolies are actually better for the consumers. This is one of them. How about just forcing steam to become a publicly traded company so other people can join in the success... That sounds like a much better solution. But who am I. Just a normal guy with a working brain I guess.

the lawsuit is about anitcompetitive systems steam uses. Steam has increased theyre comission rate per game sold to 30%, in most industries where theyre is a comission rate for sales the company decreases the comission rate as the bisuness takes off to allow more things to be sold on the plattform. but steam has instead increased comission rates and forced the consumers to pay those prices as game devs are having to increase the price of games to maintain a profit. This is considered very anti competitive in the industry and becasue they have a choke hold on the market theyre is no one to challenge them and offer a better deal for these games to be sold on.

Yeah a judge thinks there is a president. However this does not mean you are guaranteed anything. The trial has not even happened, and honestly to me it's based on BS. Steam is one of the best online platforms out there. They aren't monopolizing anything. It's free for players to join, the games I have purchased are cheaper and they play better through the steam platform then others I have tried. There's no contract by steam to have complete control over the games that developers produce. They can choose to bring their game to steam or not, what they choose to pay is up to them, I do not even get how they are claiming they are monopolizing anything. Far from it Steam Is the favored platform among gamers for a reason. As others have pointed out one of the only online PC platforms that allows cross plays with the console gamers with out limiting you to only be able to play with friends on their platform. To me this is nothing but BS. My guess is that other mediocre platforms are jealous of steams success, and developers not taking into consideration the gamer base and why the gamers have chosen steam.

I love that no one in the comments thinks its insane that steam charges a 30% commission rate on all sold games, this is the main focus on the lawsuit, by being the most used platform they should over time be able to lower the commission rate as the model proves successful so smaller indie games can get on the marketplace and see a return on value, but instead steam since its creation has increased there commission rate to the new one of 30% which is forcing game companies to accept a loss of profits or inflate there prices so the customer has to pay the commission rate. This whole lawsuit of over them being extremely anti competitive which competition is supposed to be the corner stone of USAs industries. @@sevenshooter2987Not exactly. They’re saying games are boosted up to 60% in price through frees, and they’re taking 40% of that 60%, so you will get 36% of your money back.

@@soldier7332steam doesn't set the prices except for valve games, all the rest of the prices are set by the actual developers of the games, but I doubt you had the braincells to release that
