We live in a world that punishes you for your innovation, I'm happy with the Steam Deck despite the fact its rumble feature is absolute trash. I've turned up the rumble feature to maximum and slightly feel the effects in one game from my entire library, Valve must set an example and never bow to these greedy, corrupt, cash hungry idiots.

It's not really a win this sort of thing. The money Immersion is asking for is probably a drop in the bucket for what Valve is making. They could easily say "Sure here's what you want" or give them a small royalty for the tech and barely miss a step. It's a situation where they don't have to fight because the loss would be nothing to them.

They can't "win". If the steam deck violates Immersions patents, they will pay. It's not a situation where it's ambiguous in any way. Either the steam deck violates their IP or it doesn't. If it does then they will be paying out.

Imersion is a patent troll. They go after every game company for the same reasons. Sony had to release the Dualshock 3 without force feedback for the first few years of the PS3 because of threats from Imersion to sue.

Ok so there is NO WAY this suit is being called by actual consumers. I can say that with almost absolute certainty. Unless everyone is an idiot, which I honestly wouldn't put past people these days. No consumer in their right mind is not happy with steam's monopoly. Having all our games in one spot is awesome... being able to find 99% of the available games out there on a single platform... thats extremely convenient for the consumer. Having massive sales because the company can afford to do so is GREAT for consumers. This is really sad that some big firm saw this payday, and people will probably actually jump on board with this for a quick buck, completely ignoring that this monopoly actually benefits the consumers. . For comparison, does anyone remember when netflix had almost everything? And now fast forward to the "non-monopoly version" we have currently that actually costs more per month than it did previously when it had everything, and to watch maybe 60-70% of available modern shows you would need to be subscribed monthly to 5 or 6 different streaming services... That is NOT at all good for the consumer. No one wants 17 different launchers to sift through to find specific game titles and download files. . In a lot of cases, monopolies are actually better for the consumers. This is one of them. How about just forcing steam to become a publicly traded company so other people can join in the success... That sounds like a much better solution. But who am I. Just a normal guy with a working brain I guess.

This is absolutely ridiculous. They literally have so many patents I'm stuff that it's nearly impossible to know what has been patented and what is fair game. I think the game industry needs a damn reset. It's ridiculous that Tech giants like this can just horde patents and lay in wait for someone to use the idea without license. This is just crap they do this shit on purpose so they can claim money they didn't work for... This practice needs to be illegal. Crap like this gets in the way of technological advances.
