Get vessel centerline from vessel wall model

Sometimes a vascular tree is defined by a thin shell model of the vessel wall. This is a problem because vessel analysis tools typically require the vessel lumen as input. This video shows how to created solid vessel lumen from the hollow vessel wall model and use it for extracting the centerline.
3D Slicer (www.slicer.org) with SurfaceWrapSolidify and SlicerVMTK extensions are used. All free, open-source, restriction-free software.

Looks very nice. Do you have an example of using such models to segment vessels from an actual CT clinical image?

You can use Segment Editor module in 3D Slicer to create vessel segmentation from CT. Simple cases (contrast agent is used, vessels are not too small, etc.) the segmentation takes a few clicks (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5qTaKCgp5h9m7c and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZKopqqAbNV2jdU) for more challenging cases you can employ more tools of the Segment Editor (you can ask for advice in the Slicer forum - discourse.slicer.org ).

See in the video description which extensions are used. You can install extensions in the application by a few clicks.
