If you create new views then showing existing content in those new view by default makes sense. That said, you have full control over what you want to display where. One easy option is to hide the node in all views by clicking the eye icon, and then drag-and-drop content into the views where you want to see it. Alternatively, to modify where a particular volume's 3D rendering is displayed you can check/uncheck views in Volume Rendering module -> Inputs -> View.

Yes of course. If you want to export the segmentation as RT structure set so that you can load it into your TPS then install the SlicerRT extension.

STEP format is a CAD format. CAD software cannot deal with complex meshes coming from image segmentation (it may contain millions of points, while CAD software can typically deal with up to a couple of thousands).

Skewed images (where the image axes are not orthogonal) are rejected by many algorithms. You can harden any transform that is applied to the volume (e.g., due to tilted gantry or non-uniform slice spacing) and/or use Crop volume module to resample the image to a regular grid. Use latest Slicer Preview Release or latest Slicer Stable Release.

It seems that nnunet and monai auto3dseg model can learn any 3d segmentation task - all you need is to provide training data. So, if you can segment the appendix in a few hundred CTs (and then apply that model to segment 2000 CTs and fix any errors that you find in those) then you can get a model that will segment the appendix fully automatically in practically any CT image.

Segmentation is stores as a binary labelmap. It is automatically converted to a surface mesh for 3D display. You can generate volumetric mesh using Segment Mesher extension.

Yes, it works on any image. Make sure you enable display of slice intersections. Note that on macOS, Ctrl button is labeled as Cmd.

We don't paint in the slice (MPR) views. Using Scissors would highlight every bright regions inside the heart and on the other side of the heart that you would need to later remove. If you use the Paint tool then it only segments bright regions around the paintstroke, so no cleanup is needed afterwards.

The wire does not stabilize the tumor. The wire moves along with the tumor and it allows us to always know where the tumor is. There is real-time ultrasound that you typically only bring in at the beginning of the procedure to define tumor margins.

If you hold down the Shift key while you are moving the mouse over one view then the all other slice views will jump to that position. You can adjust options in the Crosshair button's menu in the toolbar.
