I'm in the process right now and even though I was doing it, I found myself doubting and thinking I need to find my art style before, etc.. You're right, I'll just make it this week and update it later on!

Estimated Picster, you always teach such useful things, I would like that at some point you can explain the necessary steps on how to publish a game made in Godot to Steam (I think that to do this, you use a special application), I know that you have been learning all that, and it would be very good if you could explain it. I have a query, to publish a demo version on Steam, I have to pay 100 dollars?

Hey, glad you enjoy the videos! a) Yes, to publish anything on Steam, free or not, you have to pay the 100usd Steam App Fee. You can however recoup it - Find all details here: partner.steamgames.com/doc/gettingstarted/appfee b) If you don't want to have any Steam specific API Stuff like achievements or cloud saves, you can just export a normal build from Godot and upload it on Steam - done!

If you are indie then my advice would be to keep away from Steam since that's where indies go to die. Get yourself on a storefront that requires more than just 100$ where you aren't just another invisible spec in an ocean. Just a thought.

This video is aimed at people planning to release on Steam, but I am interested in your opinion. Which storefronts would you recommend? I think working with another sales channel will not magically make the other hundreds of games that get released each week go away - You will still need to compete with them.

@@picster There's no silver bullet for everyone. It depends more on specific genre or even style of game where to publish. For some it might even make more sense to go to a publisher and lose some control over your product rather than going directly to any storefront. But in any case - releasing on curated store do actually make those hundreds of shovelware games magically disappear since that's primarily a Steam problem. This obviously requires the game in question not to be a low effort shovelware itself.

@@ronaldpikksaar2202 Thanks for the answer! Can you recommend the storefront(s) you use for your game(s) and how your experience was/is? That would be great, I love hearing first hand experiences!

@@picster I already mentioned the silver bullet and publishers. Everyone will have different experiences since their games are different.
