Your temporary "Dometic fix" is hilarious, but at the same time, effective. Hey you two, after that long absence we are delighted to see you posting content on a regular basis again. Thanks for being so real, it's refreshing!

I wonder if you could find a shop that does 3D printing and have them make you a few of the latches. Maybe make them a bit robust too. Not sure about the hook side (white part) that broke. But those black things look like they could be 3D’d. 🤞

We had same thing happen to the hatch on our truck camper. We attached bungee cords kind of like you did and figured that airflow would help hold it down. Then I noticed the shadow of our rig one day while driving on the interstate and it was clear that the hatch was opening even when driving 70 mph! What a surprise that was. We modified our jury rigging after that. Good luck

We were in a similar scenario and resorted to getting a 3D print of the plastic piece we needed. Check into a 3D printer near you!! I am sure it will be cost effective for you! Can't hurt to try at this point right? Good Luck!

Your video footage of Golden was really lovely. I was wondering where you would stay, there, since the Denver area is not very RV- friendly. Montana makes sense. Glad you missed all the recent snowy/icy weather!!

I would consider using a bungee type closure that Yeti and Premium Igloo coolers use. You can screw through the plastic shroud into the wooden structure of the truck camper. They are available from Amazon for $10 a pair. Just a thought to get y'all through Alaska.

I have a 2009 Lance 1181 camper, & that is why I started watching you guys. Well, last summer I took a trip from Austin, TX to Halifax, NS, & on the way in Effingham, IL, I stopped at a truck stop cause it started to rain super hard. I went inside to see about food, & when I came out the wind had picked up to tornado strength. I was actually standing next to my camper, & I looked down on the ground & thought, jezz, that looks like it came off my skylight. Sure enough, it blew the whole top off. Yes, it rained inside of my bed area. What a day. I have video's on all of the mess. I have since then replaced the skylight with a different brand from CNCEST that only cost $389.99, shipping included. It came from China, but so far it is great. It has the bug screen & the shade, plus 4 lights all around the opening. The skylights that come with Lance campers are good, but when they break, they are expensive to replace. I was quoted over $1500 for mine. Hope your entrance into Canada goes smoothly. I'm 69 & travel alone, & when I crossed into Canada from Calais, Maine to St. Stephen, New Brunswick, I was detained for an hour while they searched my pickup & camper for over an hour. The border patrol agents actually broke several things in my camper which I didn't find out about until the next day. I don't do drugs, I left all my guns in Texas, so what gives. I guess they were bored. It was a tiny border crossing.

Great video! I wouldn’t want to drive I the rain either. But glad you got to Colorado then Mt. Oh no the sky light really! Hope you were able to get it fixed. Glad to see you are on the road again. Can’t wait to see the next video. Have a great weekend and great week.

Where the plastic broke off, is that above the roof line? if so, you could find a metal part to bolt through the housing and seal the bolt and nut from the outside. I would use butyl sealant on the inside. As for the other side, you already have the metal arm, Im sure you could do the same for the other side to fabricate/bend or fold over a brass or metal strip of sheet metal to fold over the end of the bracket where the hole is and drill it out and bolt it back on.. Use your imagination and do a walk through a Home depot of Lows hardware area and Im sure you could find something that will work. Hope you figure it out, much less than the cost of new parts.

As you guys know, just an afternoon shower in Tampa. Be safe out there, I definitely won't drive our 32 footer in that weather. We went to a rally 2 years ago we were talking about the mountains and they asked if we had mountains we were we lived, I said "yes. Big thunder, and space mountain " 😊 I loved the video, Thank you for sharing

I know it's probably not practical on the road but I would see if you could have those two parts machined in aluminum. If they are known to break often I would have several made and sell the rest. Go Hawks.

Great video guys we did two trips to Alaska and Lance 1172 and Chevy 1 ton Duramax diesel absolutely loved it however now we traded in our lance for a grand design solitude two years old fully loaded with four game changer battle 800 W of solar I don’t think we’re gonna take this rig to Alaska, but you never know this rig does have a washing machine which I love. Look forward to your upcoming videos. We started our Alaska trips in first week of April and came back in October. It was cold. Lotta campgrounds were closed in October oh well.

Rain doesn’t stop anyone who is actually from the south. We live in Georgia now, we moved from Ohio four years ago. My husband is a very defensive driver. He’s a retired police officer. And he would have pulled over too. But none of our neighbors would. Another thing that sounds like my neighbors. Couldn’t you go to a manufacturer and show them the piece and see if they could make them for you? I would at least try that. I hope you have fun in Alaska. Show us videos. Because I will probably never make it there. We would love to travel. But we have three small dogs, one of who gets carsick. That’s not pleasant. If they would make it we would be out there seeing the world. Or at least part of it.

I'm in Australia and just yesterday I was just talking with an rving mate of mine about how we don't like Dometic products as many of them are not durable, poorly designed, overpriced parts and are just crap. Enjoy Alaska. Downunda - Class B owner Melbourne Australia.
