I found that if you hold it longer on those, it burns just the same.

Trim them down first, and do it at the start of the season.

Who cares if it works? You get a flamethrower lol

They work, but sometimes more trouble than worth. Work well with concrete slabs. Not so well with gravel

Hi I think these gas burners are great . If you burn the top the dig over then burn the roots you kill the entire plant . Then apply vinegar after and cover it for the winter. By spring they’ll be little to no weeds . If using for a driveway they work with just a top burn 🔥 it also kills the seeds .

For large areas you are better off using a Exothermic Pulsefire LRT. Its a real flame thrower with the right fuel mix will clear anything. Much faster and more fun. I was sick of propane throwers and spending hours. I felt the weeds grew faster than i could get rid of them. Not anymore.

The carbon residue is a successful fertilizer for growing anything including more weeds.

Great info to know. I'm considering buying one, which isn't too expensive and I already have the propane tank. Plus I worry about spraying, which does a good job, but I just worry about the long term impact. Thanks for posting!

For the paver areas, did the weeds come back in the next season? IE, are the weeds dead-dead? Or just left dormant as the roots are still underground?
@GetGreenBeWell3 ай бұрын
Weeds still came back. We didn't continue to use the flamethrower on them because it was easier to spray vinegar on the pavers than hook up a flame thrower. The vinegar works great, but they will still keep coming back.

It takes coming back a week later and torching a 2nd time.

Thing is most gas cylinders people use on burners are actually screw on camping BUTANE ones ... burns cooler than propane ie damages weeds less and less effective

Your using a small weed burner. I have a 500,000 btu weed burner that will take care of any weed! It has many uses including spreading tar on roofs. Probably over kill for the average home owner.

It works but they grow back just as bad as they had, and really quickly 🤦🏼♂️

Good luck..won't get rid of th root..just like vinegar and most others

In my experience, there are very few simple solutions to anything! A bad weed infestation can take several attempts to clear, no matter what method is used. One very effective method is to simply cover the area with old carpet and/or underlay for a year. This will starve the plants of light and has very good results. I use a weedburner, round-up and good old-fashioned hand weeding in equal measure. Ultimately, you have to stop the damned things from setting seed - hence the old saying: one year seeding - seven years weeding. Weeds that grow from tap-roots, or rhyzomes need to be dug out meticulously, or subjected to multiple round-up applications/burn-offs

So true. You have got to get rid of the seeds or roots to truly be effective. This just kills to the surface, they will still grow back.

Weeds always grow back with weed torch. My neighbor does this because he’s lazy and doesn’t want to cut his weeds down and throw it away.
