Your art is a part of your soul, that’s why you’re having a hard time pairing it down. Each item has a memory for you whether it’s recalling the feeling of excitement or anticipation when you bought supplies, or what you were thinking or how you were feeling when you sketched or painted something. Each item has value to you, and I’m not talking about monetary value, but importance. Perhaps if you donated supplies to a school art teacher or a college student who struggles to buy items, you might be willing to part with things knowing they’re being used instead of just thrown away. Even canvases can be painted over and reused. You would be gifting items to people who could really use them, and they won’t be going bad on a shelf. Good luck decluttering and organizing!

Supplies for a passion are in a similar category with sentimental items, in my opinion. Great organization!

I love the series ! I got my own art stuff divided up into my own appartment, my parents house and my boyfriend's appartment. I think arts and crafts are a hobby where you will always have some leftovers, not just your own paintings but material in general. I admire how you manage to be sincere and admit geting ride of that is not as easy as it seems.

Art is something you created so personal and I totally get that. I wish I still had some of my favorite pieces but I did throw them out and regret on some of it for sure. Like a part of yourself is thrown out. Don't be too harsh.

Must be that time of year, I also have a degree in fine arts, and after 15 years of it being in totes and in storage, I finally went through it all. Such a mix bag of emotions honestly. The good emotions attached to them are hard to let go of. Holding onto the stuff for the person you wish you could be, are the bad emotions. Remember you are in control, if you don't want to let go of them, then don't, wait until you are ready.

Go easy on yourself. I had to sort out my art supplies and found that I felt better about it when I donated some of my stuff to a non profit studio that assists MMRD adults. Just a thought! I also am enjoying your channel.~ Debbi

Sort through at the auction house, keep what you need/want then sort through again at home. Keep your art things. Take it home! Store what you reeeally want to keep and save, then have a garage sale. You will find places in your home or garage to keep those things you truly want or need. Trust me, it's a lot easier to do this while you are young and full of energy. I am almost 60 and have inherited my late husbands and my mothers things, along with a lot of my grandmothers things. I have 45ish years worth of stuff. Luckily I have had two garage sales and purged 3/4ths of the hoard. It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be, to let things go. If you love it keep it, if you will use it then keep it. If it needs repaired either fix it or let it go. Once you bring all that stuff home with you, you will find a way to store it, or get rid of it, or sell it. Work smart, not hard. Make a decision and stick with it. If you are willing to give it to family you should give it. I'm excited for the new jumbley, mixed series. Wishing you lots of energy and good days ahead.

I just have to say first of all that I am so pleased to have found your Channel. What I suggest as far as your art stuff goes. If you can't let it go because you think you can use it later on.. try the emotional attachment rule.. if anything has has a bad memory attached to it get rid of it. I have found that that one simple rule get rid of it if there's a bad memory or a bad feeling attached to it has decluttered stuff that I never thought I would get rid of. It works give it a go. Awesome Channel keep it up honey you are a beast I've said it before and I will say it over and over you are a beast

I had all the collections from my Interior Design degree including architectural models I built, portfolios, weaving projects, etc. I finally took photographs of bulkier things like weaving and models and let most of them go. I'm long overdue for further decluttering as I haven't released anything else for about 40 yrs. Several of my paintings that I gave away to friends and family have recently returned home as other people downsized their collections, so I'm going to have to address it.

Yes, the wall could do with some paint - could you get some leftover of white paint from 2-3 people and put it all together? On Facebook Marketplace or something like that? Just a thought so you don´t have to spend money on it 😉

Hello! Love your energy! Just a thought from personal experience. I too am a 62 year old artist and I understand your emotions regarding your artwork and supplies. First of all, art supplies are expensive. Next, many art supplies do not go bad if stored properly. That said, one day when you are in a different stage in life, you will have more time to devote to your art. Then the old love of creating will have time to thrive and you will want to start making pieces of art again. The minutes and hours of your life that you spend making a piece of art means that each one is an expression of the deepest part of who you are. One day your family members will cherish the pieces you have created. Please do not rush to throw out your artwork and supplies. I have made this mistake and still miss some of those piece and wish I had not been so hasty in discarding. Even the pieces that are not so well executed show the progress of my journey as an artist. Yours show the same about you. Happy creating!

I have had trouble getting rid of what I call aspirational clutter. I aspire to be a artist so resist getting ride of paints and watercolor paper and palettes. I have other aspirations that are easier to declutter, but everybody got aspirations that gang us up…

It’s always harder to get rid of creative projects like art, writing, music, etc. We have our emotions & dreams for the future tied up in these things, more than day to day objects. Who wants decluttering dreams to be easy?! Our art is who we are or want to be someday. Give yourself some grace & extra time to prune your creation efforts. Do it, but bring different eyes & values to your pruning. ✂️✂️✂️

I also have a art degree (Graphic Design and Sculpture) it took me almost 15 years to get rid of all of the stuff from college. Please be kind to yourself. It is a process letting go of a major time in ones life. I find not I almost do not create because I do not want to deal with the finished projects.

People are allowed to own things they like and enjoy or mean something to them. If you like it keep it. I see lots of KZbinrs decluttering to make videos then they rebuy the stuff 2 months later. It filling our landfills and wasteful. Don't turn into them!! Just clean and organize. ❤

So excited to see a new series. I'm right there with you on decluttering art supplies. It's the toughest category by far. Also I had a hard time with my art stuff as well. I ended up photographing all of my art and then just getting rid of it. I still keep and hang up some of my favorites but the rest is gone. It's not serving me anymore, I was learning and growing while I created them, I'm in a new stage of life so I figured it was time to let go.
