Thank you for sharing. I lost my dad to Covid early June, one week later my daughter was born. To comemorate life this way, remembering moments and gone people looking a watch, this is so me right now. My dad left an vintage Omega Seamaster TV with day complication, it's not working, and I'll leave it that way, so I can always remember the way he also did not fix it, as a part of my life is not working properly when he left this world so soon. I was not much a watch guy, now I'm into it, just to remember time is precious, and I should keep track on it.

There has just been a major change in my life and that is why I was looking for something special - thank you for this video. To me, the open heart represents my illness and my openness about it - the entire dial is smooth, but there is that one hole that really shows what it truly is, no hiding or pretending. Sorry for your loss, I am glad you had such a strong connection with your father.

My grandfather taught me what a watch means.....he always had Seiko and citizen , so I had all of his 70-90s seikos refurbished......and I said that to say this....I bought his house....and I ended up meeting the love of my life and having to let it go, because I'm staying in Italy now, so the profit I got on his house I bought a speedy, not a watch I can normally afford but I put it on my wrist as a tribute ......also my brother , gave me an skx that he served in (I'm AF) but he SERVED.....and I just got his skx back from servicing...finally I bought my grandfather a beautiful white and blue citizen and had it engraved..."hold on to this for me" ...he passed away....but I videotaped me giving it to him and the moments of the unboxing that I will cherish forever ......bottom line .......I agree about buying watches for someone that you love.....watches....they're simply timeless.....

I did not know your father, but I'm sure he would have absolutely loved the Presage open heart. It is a beautiful time piece at any cost. My condolences to you, and your family, and thank you for the excellent review, and equally excellent watch story.

A watch is often given to commemorate important events in a person's life. It's right to give yourself a watch to remember and honor someone who filled time with valued moments. I have only a few automatic watches, and I love the idea of an automatic watch that does not display day and date. If you let the watch sit for a couple days, you need to reset 3 different things. I was leaning toward solar-powered because of that particular inconvenience. At least with this model, you adjust the time, give the crown a few turns, and you're on your way.

A very fitting tribute both to the Man and the watch. I have a Cocktail Time Skydiving dial which my wife bought me for my 50th birthday. They are beautiful time pieces.

I thank you for such a great review and in turn for sharing a little bit of humanity with me. New to your channel but found this video after purchasing an open heart for myself after starting a dream job in the same week as bringing our second daughter into the world with my wife. Keep on ticking brother

This is a wonderful video and review and personal. Good for you my friend to get this watch. As a Canadian I’m looking to buy the watch and was looking for a review and glad I found your video. Looks beautiful and seiko makes amazing movement. For me it’s omega that my father got while in the army and happy to say that the watch is with my brother.

Hi Maurice, Your insights on watches are truly enlightening! I’m from India and occasionally visit Japan for business. Could you recommend a buying guide for Seiko watches? Also, what deals are available for someone like me? I have a small question: where can I buy the ‘Presage Automatic Watch - SSA405J1’? Love from India 🇮🇳

Enjoyed your video. The first watch I purchased was a Citzen Fiore AW1690-51E. Purchased it as statement piece for my life as I just graduated from high school. I personally viewed that transition as me entering a different chapter in my life. Anyway I will keep it short. I do like the watch shown in the video but I would change the band for a different colour band or a bracelet.
