I'll add that if the guy is so afraid that the moment or opportunity is gone then he should try and create another moment/opportunity again when she is sober.

Big disagree with the "never turn down a makeout session". He knows Kat and knows that this is absolutely not who she is normally and she is incredibly drunk. He did the right thing 100% by saying no and if she wants to when she's sober, go for it. Consent is very important in that situation.

Julia’s crying during her poem was improvised. So was Heath playing with the fire in their class. And I believe Julia was Heath’s first kiss ever.

I doubt it was his first kiss on film, from what I understand Heath was discovered by American producers from his perfomance in the Australian movie Two Hands where he co starred with Rose Byrne (her debut in cinema)

This is a great idea for a segment, Achara. Truly enjoyed watching Jaby enjoy this classic and I want to see more. The minute I saw you both drinking red wine, I poured myself a glass. I really like this theme. We could all work to try to find a romantic comedy that Jaby actually likes! 1. Crazy, Stupid, Love 2. Bring It On 3. He’s Just Not That Into You 4. Father of the Bride There are so many to choose from. Another fun theme could be to try to find a romantic drama that will make Jaby cry.

All of y’all are a bunch of babies. In this situation Jaby is saying she was not drunk to the point that this makes it wrong, hence the reason she was so upset with him not kissing her. She would have been grateful he did not accept the kiss if she was not in control of her actions, that’s not what happened here. Y’all are making it seem like Jaby was condoning taking advantage of someone.

Psst! Jaby! You say you were interested in getting girls yourself at that time...and yet...you look down on romance movies? Really? You were on the wrong road... I find A Knight's Tale to be sort of a rom-con but I loved the friendships more then the love interest and thought Kate was much cooler then Jocelyn. My favorite rom-con is Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and Crazy Stupid Love. It's crazy to me because I think most "rom-coms" can exist within other genres of movies and those can or are marketed towards men but if you slap "rom-con" label on it suddenly it's a chick flick and men seem to abhor them on principle. Don't get me wrong I don't care for most of them myself because most are cliché or full of tropes as not much effort is usually put into them, I think for some reason studios think they don't have to put much effort into them. But there are so decent ones and some aren't even willing to give them a shot just cuz of the preconceived stigma. I had an ex-boyfriend who walked into me watching Little Women (1994 version), if I had asked him if he wanted to watch with me he would have protested in disgust so I was watching it in another room. He came into say something to me, I was only into the movie maybe 15 mins and he sat down watched the whole rest of the movie with me eyes glued to the screen. I was really surprised and at the end he said "that was a really good movie what's it called?" I said "Little Women" he said "Wait that's Little Women? I don't know why but that's not the movie I pictured in my mind when people talked about it. I thought it was going to be a bunch of chicks causing drama and stabbing each other in the back or something. Or they are all just desperate to land a husband or something. Not at all what I thought it was gonna be, I like the story and characters." He ended up joining me watching it the next year too as I use to watch it around Christmas time, kind of a little traditional of mine.

This movie came out in July 1999 in my country when I was 14. In June 2000 my family and I were in a very serious car crash, leaving me blinded for a month. This was the movie I requested to "watch" while in the hospital. I had seen it so many times in less than a year (VHS tape) that I knew exactly what was happening based solely on sound, and English not being my native language. That's how much I loved it, and I still do. To me, this is THE teen movie. Another rom-com that I will never tire of, is Notting Hill.

This is one of my top 5 or 6 movies ever ! I watched it for the first time in 25 years last week. I'm not really into rom-coms, but this is great, and totally hilarious. There was absolutely no reason for Heath to do an explanation for his persona. He didn't care about the stories about him, but enjoyed the intrigue and mystique they gave to him. When i was in high school in the 80s, i perfectly well knew that song he sung by The Four Seasons !

I absolutely loved Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's scene in this and wished they had more scenes together as well as like a big brother figure to JGL's character Cameron. I think Heath's character Patrick was always how he was toward the end of the film. He was just used to everyone spreading rumors about him and he basically didn't care kind of like Julia's character but he dealt with it with a different attitude. He was leaning into the rumors and pretending he was edgier until he started letting his guard down with Kat.

This is such a great movie...can't believe I forgot Allison Janney was in this! Equally great is the soundtrack. I have the DVD and the soundtrack CD. Was just listening to the music again just a few days ago. So, so good! Oh, the comment regarding not being able to get the original bands for the songs is way off. The cover songs are a feature not a bug. Letters To Cleo's covers of a couple Cheap Trick songs are amazing. As for the one line you didn't follow at the party early in the flick, Heath says, "I think you should do whatever you want to do." Julia replied with, "Well you are the only one that does," meaning that everyone else is trying to get her to be something she is not.

I was a high school kid in the 90s and knew this song very well. Also there was a Mel Gibson movie that heavily featured the song around then. Think it was called Conspiracy Theory.

Why does everyone just critically think about every movie these days, instead of feeling and living in it?

Heaths character is for me is as you say a product of that time. These personalities existed in real life at least from my experience. So I guess because of that.. it didn't need to be explained.

This a 90's favorite of mine. RIP Heath Ledger. Archana reminds me of my little sister a little.

I love this film. It really made me want to be a punk pop rock indie teenager girl at that time. I suggest to watch Empire Records with Liv Tyler and Ethan Embry

Oh man, there are some amazing rock bands, and female led rock bands right now. Check out Halestorm, Dorothy, The Nearly Deads, The Nearly Reckless, The Dirty Youth...wait, he doesn't know Jane Austen? Edit - I missed a comma

Contrary to popular belief Jaby, the song "Shout", was very popular at school dances in the 90's.

I learned archery as part of PE (Phys Ed) in the 8th grade. Also, yes there were nachos served in public school. Taco salad, pizza, burgers. Some schools even had actual fast food brands in the cafeteria.

For fangirl reasons: Penelope &/or Bring It On FOR analytical reasons: I'd like to see you guys react to Saving Face (2004, avail on Hulu). and compare it to Netflix's The Half of it(2020) They're by the same director. You guys spent a lot of time comparing time periods & so I thought it'd be interesting to see what you think of these two

I’ve often thought of showing that one to Jaby but I think it might be too triggering because of the whole father angle. But it’s been a long while now since his father has passed so maybe he’d be able to handle it? I’m not sure 🤔

I might be a 6ft 6, rugby playing lump but i can still enjoy a good rom-com. My mum got me early with Notting Hill, Four Weddings & Serendipity (all great films). Whilst perhaps not in the same league as those, Wimbledon is pretty great & i was recently pretty much forced to watch Pretty Woman which was very decent. There's a reason Julia Roberts & Kate Beckinsale were & still are crushes for a lot of guys my age, myself included ha

at my High school we had nachos, baked potato, at the salad bar as part of the free lunch program. Hell we even had Subway and Dominos on Campus for the rich kids. I would not be surprised if Starbucks is on campus by now.
