Also, there was a short girl with short hair who was an assassin with the ability to "swap" faces. Plus, Sersi and Ikaris and arguably siblings, yet they had a romantic relationship. And there is the threat of a mysterious race of creatures that were originally created as weapons that went out of control. And of course, there is a god that glows - a Lord of Light if you will - that demands the sacrifice of lives for the "greater good."

With all honesty this is one of my favorite MCU movies. Something about it feels like such a breath of fresh air among all the major green screen sets we've gotten in Phase 4. Eternals would've worked better as an 8-10 episode Disney+ miniseries with a "LOST" format, with episodes being centric on certain characters, having flashbacks to flesh them out. There were simply too many characters and ideas to fit into a nearly 3 hour movie. The visuals were amazing, but the movie format really is what killed the final product.

Very underrated movie. It was a change in style and content at a time when people were asking for exactly that but, predictably, a lot of the same people didn't like that the movie changed style and content once it actually came out. The dislike was also reinforced by darker agendas, which gleefully jumped at the chance. Eternals is very much a Chloé Zhao movie, with a different pace and focus than most contemporary Hollywood faire. For some people it didn't work, but fortunately there seems to be a wave of reconsidering happening online. More and more people seem to be giving it another chance, and liking what they see. It's a movie that rewards patience.

The best thing about this movie (and why it’s so underrated) is that by observing and living with humanity through the eyes of the Eternals you see they’re the ones who truly have the right to decide if humanity and the earth itself is worth saving over having trillions of lives being born from the result of one yet to be born Celestial. It’s the kind of existential struggle that the other films very rarely ever touch on. The Celestials may be creators of life, but they don’t have the right to sacrifice humanity or the earth or any planet with life on it to create one of their own, because they DON’T live among them.
@thoarnejones680512 күн бұрын

Icarus flew to close to the sun I've watched this movie many times with varied levels of "cooked" from "not cooked" to "Fried" it holds up every time it's a solid 8/10. I think the reason people don't like it is because it completely shatters the MCU Formula which makes it feel like less of a joke and more serious. By this point in MCU the formula was worked into every movie so there was always a laugh no more than 10 seconds away, then here's a whole new group of characters and they aren't doing that.

A friend of mine once told me that i should look at things for what they are not how i wanted them to be. Nothing is going to live up to the ideas we come up with. So i can listen to a song, watch a movie or read a book and enjoy it. Now in my brain, i pick it apart and think of what i would have done differently. I just don't get upset about it. The Eternals and Deviants debuted in Marvel comics in the mid 1970s (yeah, 50 years ago) - not exactly 'new characters'. Granted, new to the MCU, and tweaked from the originals to suit a more modern take that fits the MCU, and also modifies the Celestials' motivations in the Universe. The following details are from Shang Chi and this movie. The 10 Rings were found by Xu Wenwu "a thousand years ago", so definitely not the bracelets they wear in the movie. They MIGHT have been made by Phastos in the past, we might discover that in Shang Chi 2, or an alternate high tech source again. Ikaris mentions The Snap taking half the population, and also mentions that this was a huge setback to the plans to fulfill the Celestial birth 5 years before - this was also the time he 'flew off and never came back'. Ikaris was always focused on the end goal - the birth of Tiamat. The mixed feelings throughout the movie was basically what they had learnt about mankind versus the innate programming of their artificial minds. Instinct interfering with what they know. Ikaris broke, and suicided when he overrode his directive in favour of allowing Sersei to do what she did.

It's one of, if not the best visually stunning Marvel movies! Thor: Ragnarok was great, but this one takes the crown! It has the best speedster representation in a movie (The Incredibles being another good one). Also, some of the sickest fight scenes! When I watched it in theaters, I had this theory that the Uni-Mind was the Ten Rings. It totally makes sense-10 for each Eternal, the same circular patterns, and Phastos was the one who pioneered the tech on Earth. I just hope they dive into the backstory of the Ten Rings in future explanations! It’s just sad though because it looks like they’re not getting any sequels for this.

lol did you “internals” at the start? ….and “Angelina Jolean” 😂

Idgaf, I will die on the hill of being someone who enjoyed this movie. I didn't know who the eternals were so I have no idea if this was even remotely comic book accurate and frankly don't care. You know why the 80s and 90s were the golden age of action movies? Because everyone wasn't such a GD stuck up critic of every little thing in a given movie.

They'll never convince me that this is a bad film.

Hello? The second end credits scene?

If only it was called "generic super hero movie" people would have liked it more. "Internals" is pretty good too.

I think Eternals would have made a better show and Ms. Marvel would have made a better movie

As much as I think Kristin is adorable, and as much as it has entertained me to see her inability to follow threads through this journey, and then follow them where others don't, I must admit; As a cis-het white late 50s balding dude, I'm desperately jealous of her fabulous hair, and I can't get over it. Props.

The Celestial Arishem the Judge is neither bad nor good he just is and does whats required. And Thanos without (or he maybe knew he was "cursed with kowledge" as he told Tony on Titan and he himself is a deviant at least in comics i dont know if it was said in movies though) knowledge saved Earth

Still don't understand why they call for independent and oscarized director to never let them express they style and to just make Mac Donald movie.

Most Marvel movies are about superhero fight scenes, when it comes right down to it. Great fun, especially for kids. Eternals was more about moral dilemmas and how different people resolve them, particularly among a group of people (err...robots...) who have known each other for thousands of years. Because of that, it has a whole different vibe from Iron Man / Capt. America / Thor / Avengers movies (with Civil War probably being the closest comparison... probably...). A vibe not so much for kids. But I think people had the expectation of a typical Marvel film, and it's that mismatch of expectation vs. reality that I think hurt perceptions of Eternals. From what I understand, Eternals was supposed to eventually tie in with the rest of the MCU.

Well you missing one last after credit scene... there is at least 2 per marvel movie! One mid credit, and one post credit at the end of the roll out

Totally unrelated but I'm doing a Desperate Housewives rewatch and that show would be PERFECT for you 😂

I’m probably one of the few people who likes This movie yes there’s issues and personally I only cared about 5 of the 10 eternals, but still I much prefer this over some recent entries ( won’t say which to not influence Kristen’s opinion)

I loved the reaction. This was a different film; I agree it did not feel like a typical MCU movie. Apart from that, there was another post-credit scene (which was missed) after the one where Harry enters the Domo that features Kit Harrington discovering something.Besides that Next on the MCU list for Kristen would be the following : Falcon and the winter solider show Loki season 1(2021): Note there a few MCU movies before watching season 2(2023) Moon Knight(2022) Secret Invasion(2023) For Movies : Spider-Man: No Way Home Docter Strange 2 Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

42:40 Ajak talks about Thanos snapping his fingers and destroying 50% of the universe's population. Thanos also said in Avengers "The universe required correction". In my opinion, Thanos knew about the emergence happening, knew about the Celestials etc which is why he did what he did to delay the celestials being born too.
@RBernsCarter5 күн бұрын
I think perhaps you have over-thought it a bit. His explanation is pretty clear in the films, too many mouths and not enough resources. He would probably encourage emergences because it reduces universal populations and celestials create new stars and new resources

Watching The Eternals made me realize that Thanos was trying to stop the emergence! He was the hero all along
@kurtacus358111 күн бұрын
If he was trying to stop the emergence he could have snapped the celestials away. His stated plan was about resources. But whichever reason he did it for would still be stupid because we would just be right back where we were in a few decades. Plus not every planet has a celestial in it. Its a fun theory but still a horrible plan
