Since Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is just right around the corner, we wanted to catch up by reacting to the remastered PS5 cutscenes to the first Spider-Man game. I wish the gameplay showed more of the conversation between Octavius and the grant committee. The last line of dialogue is really touching because Octavius defends for Parker when the committee doubts his abilities to be a reliable assistant.

There are so many nods and homages to this game reflecting on the movies, 90s cartoon, and comics. The comment on the Wheat Cakes at the shelter is a big nod to Aunt May, making one of Peter's favorite breakfasts, wheat pancakes. (I wouldn't be surprised at all if she was the one making batches of them in the kitchen🤘)

Yuri is a character from the comics. She's pretty new (I think within at least the last 5-10 years or so) If you wanna learn a bit more about her I would encourage watching the cutscenes from the city that never sleeps DLC. Its extra story content for this game that came out after the game was released.

No doubt though Spidey will have some sort of an issue with that especially since they were partners in a way.

This Peter is in his mid-20s. He has been Spider-Man for about 8 years at this point (mentioned by Fisk). The towers are how you are able to see different parts of the map as you progress. After the few random crimes you stop here, others pop up at random, but you're free to ignore them. I'm not sure how much of that kind of stuff this video will show. I'm guessing it'll mostly stick the the main plot. Voice actor notes: Peter is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Captain Yuri is voiced by his wife Tara Platt. Just some irony that Yuri spends so much time talking to Yuri. Kingpin is voiced by Travis Willingham, who Achara might remember as Grog from Legend of Vox Machina.

I always preferred the web shooters instead of it being biological. It's a small thing but added a huge factor in his struggles. Early on in the comics he would struggle with being able to buy the materials for refills, and would run out mid battle and have to adapt.

It also helps to show just how smart peter is. Take the mcu introduction, for example. Tony comes in to Peter's room and is like "you know what's amazing? This stuff. This stuff is really incredible. Who produced it?" And peter says "I did."

I love the Tobey/Raimi natural web shooters but they actually would not work in this game because the player is given several web related gadgets to level up as they play through the game, the story also heavily focuses on Peter's intelligence especially with science and engineering which makes it more believable as to how he can craft so many different suits/utilities throughout the game as well. I will say the mental block concept is a cool aspect to explore but the hand built web shooters create more scenerios where Peter has to rely on his other strengths. There is a bunch of skins and abilities that are inspired directly by the raimi films and many of them are from Andrew Garfield,MCU, and comicbook storylines as well.

The raimi version didn't have web shooters. His body naturally produces them like a real spider. But I agree I love the introduction of web shooters since the amazing spiderman, since it's accurate to the comics.

For in game reasoning/logic they also couldn't afford to use a natural webshooter with mental blocks like Tobey since they needed several gadgets for the player to level up as they play the game

It’s cool to see you’re doing the Spider-man games next. When this came out, I had a good feeling it would be awesome, but I wasn’t expecting an emotional finale. It was shocking when they did the facial update for next-gen systems on Peter how angry people got. You would have thought the developers had insulted someone’s mother. This is probably one of Yuri Lowenthal’s best performances.

The Japanese artwork that Kingpin has is also a reminder of where he trained as one of Fisk's men says when asking how is he so strong when he looks fat (not fat, mostly muscle), "He trained with the Sumo in Japan, it's all about mass and strength" As for the puzzles, don't worry if you don't like them there's the option to skip them in the accessibility part of the options. Oh, and from what I can gather of the Thug Crimes, most of them have a link to Kingpin as in breaking into places he owned, assaulting people who had a connection with him (not Gloria), and stealing drugs from his personal stash, all of them wanting to be the next boss of crime in the city.

The Spider-Man movie was a lot of people’s first Spider-Man and a lot of people wish all Spider-Man have organic webbing but Spider-Man has always been using web shooter since before the movies in the comics and cartoon shows that came before and after only Toby got organic webs he’s unique. I don't know if you watched Hawkeye or not, but a bunch of the criminals have red jumpsuits because they're members of the tracksuit mafia, which were in the Hawkeye show, and is from the comics thus able to use in a Marvel game, like Spider-Man.

I don’t think this format works for a game like this. It works for Injustice, because the only gameplay in between the story is fighting the other player. But here, it’s not just fighting. A lot of the story beats progress through the gameplay, so it’s not just the cutscenes.

I think the story is really amazing. The developers really want something different instead of just copying what the MCU does like Peter becomes Spider man, Uncle Ben will die and then it will continue there. But this story of Spider man in the game is very amazing Yuri Lowenthal(the voice actor for Peter/Spider man) is really good. He is a great Peter Parker/Spider man

I kinda liked the organic shooters until I thought about it. There's only one reason they'd be on his wrists, and that's because that's where OG comics Peter wore his mechanical ones. Spiders don't spin those out of their legs. It was just a step too far and Raimi reasoning "a kid comes up with a wonder adhesive 3M can't make" is both weirdly arbitrary for a comic movie, and also misses the point about Peters intelligence (though since they've suggested he inherently got the knowledge to synthesize webbing from the spider bite as well, he was just smart enough to understand how to craft it). It's a reason I have a love/hate relationship with the Raimi Maguire movies, it codified a lot of stuff for people that now expect it, like the organic shooters. Oh well. Looks better than the obvious rope they used for that 70s show with Nicholas Hammond.

If you only watch the cutscenes, I would have actually preferred you reacting to the original PS4 cutscenes, since the original face model for Peter Parker showed much better emotions. Missing the iconic intro song. I can only assume that you had copyright issues. Yet the cinematic theme during the swinging and the phone calls is a bit distracting to the overall video. Don't like the irrelevant changes made by insomniac by replacing the face/body actor with a new one. The reason they gave is smoke. Some big wig in Japan put their foot down on an aesthetic choice because they knew it wouldn't be traced back to them and they can assure themselves they are the bigger fish in the Sony "pond". The same thing happened with the firing of Andrew Garfield. He missed a scheduled appearance in Japan because he was sick and they lost face. He was immediately fired. Crazy.

Nope, Raimi's making Tobey's Spider-Man. Man's organic webs are not better than the web shooters. He changed the character after decades in which the character had web shooters. First, because it doesn't make sense, if his body produces his webbing, just how does it work? Where does his body have the room to store the webbing or biochemicals involved? and second, because it actually detracts from Peter Parker's character. By having home-made web shooters that can shoot an entirely new form of temporary adhesive and the never-used "spider-tracers", all of which he created when Peter was a 15-year-old kid, we establish that Peter is a natural genius and prodigy in both chemical and mechanical engineering.
