The 2003 movie kinda sucks (the director's cut sucks a little less) but it's worth watching for two reasons: -When they see Deadpool 3, they'll be familiar with Jennifer Garner's portrayal of Elektra, and *-Their depiction of Matt's sonar-vision is a much better interpretation of how Matt "sees,"* than the show's "world on fire," showing us how it works both in day-to-day functioning situations and during fights and acrobatics. - Bonus reason: Michael Clarke Duncan's version of Fisk; it's a completely different take, but pretty damn badass and perfect for a bigger-than-life big-screen version.

2:50: No, he's not seeing. That's for the audience. But also, this is synesthesia. How our brains interpret sense data that we're not properly equipped to experience. When I got a new hearing aid after years of having a crappy one, it took me weeks to understand that the weird ambient noises I was now picking up were birdsong. Until that clicked, it was just a gentle roar of white noise. People who have lived with cataracts and such for prolonged periods often have face-blindness. We develop other ways to engage with the world when we lose a sensory channel. And that can seem superhuman. In Matt's case, it actually is (I'm perpetually annoyed by people saying he doesn't have powers. The man can hear gunfire from thirty stories up, he can track someone by the sound of their watch, he can smell what you had for lunch two days ago. He's got superpowers FFS). Anyway, looking forward to watching the rest of this video! You two are excellent co-hosts and I'm enjoying this series a lot.

Yes, it's definitely been my experience as a disabled person to fade because a lot of people get uncomfortable around disabilities for what I am going to say are probably a variety of reasons. But even with that lived experience I didn't even pick up on that in the show, and kudos to her for recognizing that -- although... hmm. Does Kristen have much experience with New Yorkers? Because Claire is definitely being a particular species of New Yorker and that involves bluntness and a no-BS attitude. That's what I got out of that performance.

Vanessa and Wilson Fisk’s romance is one of the all time best in both comic book and crime drama genres. Wilson doesn’t want a trophy wife, he wants a truly loving and equal relationship, a person he can be more honest with than his right hand man or even himself. And Vanessa sees a man who projects absolute power and garners fear and respect wherever he goes, but deep down has a vulnerable and loving heart that he wants to share with someone. It’s a romance where both treat each other as equals.

My first read of Karen and Foggy when this aired was that Karen LIKES Matt, but maybe saw him as off-limits, so kind of uses Foggy, his best friend, as a surrogate Matt. Which is why she asks him to help her see as Matt sees.

His catholic faith is an enormous part of his character, the show opened up in the first episode with him in confession struggling with "the devil" inside himself. He also hits people with pinpoint accuracy from far away whenever he throws things, even able to ricochet his throws off of walls. Using a gun wouldn't be an issue for him at all outside of the loud noise it makes because of how sensitive his hearing is, he just refuses to ever kill. Most heroes don't kill so I'm a little confused why you think he should be bloodthirsty and murder everyone he comes across, no matter how bad they are.

When the certain chemical combinations hit Matt and stole his vision it transformed his entire physical being. Whatever senses he had previously are enhanced up to Superhuman levels which he has honed and perfected with tutelage and disciplined into a living lie detector and a very highly skilled fighter and vigilante. He’s so good and consistent that he’s one of the very few super heroes The Punisher respects outside of Captain America.

As a longtime fan of Daredevil I was so glad Netflix got the characters right. It's dark, and gritty. They capture his fighting style beautifully. He's not a true Boxer, or Martial artist, and very acrobatic. They made Foggy a much more interesting character. I'm so glad there is more coming.

Karen is definitely interested in Matt, not Foggy. She has been fascinated by him since the first moment she was in his apartment. She doesn't realize that Foggy has a crush on her and treats him like a good friend, which is why she asks him to touch her face. Karen really wants to know how Matt sees her. In the comics, Karen is Matt's great love. Their relationship is quite difficult and stormy, among other things because of Matt's "second life". They broke up and got back together several times. Matt had many girlfriends in the comics, but Karen was the most important, well maybe one more was equally important, but she will also appear in the show later.

What they show him "seeing" is basically a visualization for us, as he pieces everything he does feel/sense into a sort of image. Think of it as a much more in depth echolocation. Subs or sea creatures and other animals that use it get a sort of general image. He gets a lot more.

Matt continues his gentle ways as much as he can to balance his violent hobby. She in no way has a lack of femininity. I am befuddled at her opinion in this specific instance.

Foggy with that "Look at me...I'm delicious" line had me rolling. 🤣 He's the type of guy you definitely want as a friend. Also he's got game to date someone like Marci. Foggy definitely got put in the friend zoned by Karen with the feeling of each other's face scene. I knew it the first time I watched the series when it first came out. She only did that to find out how Matt would see her from Foggy's perspective. Women tend to friend zone people a lot more than guys so I'm surprised they didn't pick up on it.😅 I'm pretty sure the blind guy knew what he was doing because the people that work for Madame Gao are loyal. Also they weren't blind all their lives so they know what a detonator is. The way the episode was shot wasn't an issue to me and I didn't notice until it was mentioned. Stuff was shot like that in earlier entertainment and I learned to ignore it and focus more on the story. I was never onboard with Vladimir, but Anatoly was a lot more reasonable to work with so I'd be more likely to root for him to become a good guy to team up with. Kristen caught on to how twisted Vanessa was sooner than I did. I didn't realize that until Season 3 how much her and Fisk were alike. The white suit and the ascot was a nod to the outfit that Wilson"The Kingpin" Fisk wore in the comics. I'm surprised they didn't mention the cane with the large diamond on top too. Claire doesn't have good luck when it comes to relationships and you'll see more on that if the two of you watch the Luke Cage and Iron Fist series. I think she pops up in all five series. There really shouldn't really be an overly dominating person in a relationship unless that's what both people want. Everyone is free to have relationships the way they want, but I know I'm not interested in that type of person and I don't want to be that type either. I "wallflower" on purpose because you'd be surprised by the things people say and do when they don't consider you a threat. It lets me know what kind of person someone is and whether I want to deal with them or not. Also I love the look on their face when they realize I'm not as much of a pushover as they thought I was. 😏 Some people dislike or hate on Wesley, but I like his character because he's dependable as well as loyal. Someone like that is hard to find the way the world is today where people turn on you without knowing if something is true or not. Dang, that was so hilarious at the end. That scared the crap out of Kristin and startled me as well. That was a naughty "Heeheehee". 🤣

I can see where Kristen is coming from about Matt and Claire but I think what you are seeing is the show over exaggerating Matt's softer side when he is Matt as opposed to the aggressive nature and persona he has to be as Daredevil. He is a caring and gentle person who wants to help people. When he is treating Claire's wounds he shows his gentler and caring side. But then you see the opposite side when he is Daredevil and beating on the Russian. The internal struggle that Matt battles with within his own being.

2:45 he is technically blind, but his remaining senses have been heightened because the radioactive material that was splashed on his eyes allowing his brain to translate the information differently creating the "world on fire" type of vision that he explained. In the comics, it's shown how very different his brain works when telepaths, like Professor Xavier, use their powers on him, they have a difficult time adjusting to controlling his brain and seeing his mind.

The ladies watching think he's just a regular blind guy with partial sight. The whole "I see a world on fire" is how all the other senses combine what is being taken in by those senses and creates an image in his brain. It's why he's able to "see" what's on the other side of walls and things that are city blocks away from him.

In the origin story, young Matt is exposed to a radioactive substance when he pushes an old man out of the way of an oncoming truck carrying hazardous materials. I do think one of Matts super powers & part of his alter ego's character is to sit back & be less prominent, to be blind, less able. Claire herself I think she needs to show strength, even some dominance in her relationship with Matt. It is a massive decision to fall in love with someone who could die any night, who's actions might kill her, who might even break the law. She needs to know not only whether there is something there, but also whether she needs to leave like straight away. She also in her career looks to be an in charge type of person. If she weren't in her job people might die. If she weren't with Matt she risks being dragged into his life & it would soon over run hers! Personally I don't see her dominating the screen with Matt, but she does hold her own & demands (in a feminine way) to be treated equal. In a strange sort of way, but very differently done we see Vanesa doing something similar with Wilson Fisk! Great reaction & Jump scare lol!

I saw another comment wondering if she thinks blind people are dumb and damn. More and more it sounds that way. Dude didn't know he was setting off a bomb just because we was blind. Like the dude knew. Also lack of sight doesn't mean he can't think or hear instructions like once inside, hit the trigger.

Not that you'd want to be you can train your senses to pick up things like blood just as he is. Or have them trained by what you happen to do. It's mostly repulsive and I don't suggest it but helpful if you in a line of work say where you have to locate things just by what's in the wind. It is sort of incredible how capable we are if you think about it and how little we even utilize if anything out of habit.

As much as I would like a new Daredevil movie, I think the series format lets the characters grow beyond the 2 hour (maybe even 3 hours these days) theatrical time limit. Then again, Batman the animated series managed to branch into the movie Mask of the Phantasm. So I can see that happening with Daredevil.

That was interesting about the masculine and feminine vibes. I tried to think of a scenario that captures the way their relationship feels like to me. I picture Matt and Claire as having been together many times in many reincarnations, and things have always been great between them. However, over the course of many lifetimes, Matt steadily grows apart from Claire, which breaks her heart. This feeling of heartbreak and frustration stays with Claire throughout each life. She's so irritated with him and his obsessions that she's treating him harshly. In this latest reincarnation, even though she had just met him, it's like there's immediate baggage out of nowhere. All the stuff from the past that hides in the subconscious suddenly comes bursting out. It's like her heart is crying out, "Why do you always do this?! Why do you always focus on other people more than me?! And now you're asking me to patch you up so that you can go back out there and do it some more?!?"

I have to disagree on the hand held camera shots. I like the shaky cam, makes it more real. Real life isn't on a steady cam. When you just walk there is an up and down motion. Running and fighting is alot of chaotic movement. Makes more sence it would be shaky.
